The coach notes that while TTU didn't have a great record last season, they lost a bunch of games by one possession, many of which came down to one or two plays.
Probably worth remembering that TTU gave Samford a very tough game last year. The Golden Eagles led at half time. Samford mounted a second half comeback.
Furman can't overlook this group. We're the biggest name on their schedule. A win over Furman can give TTU instant credibility, which is huge for a rebuilding program.

Tennessee Tech picked just behind 3 Teams that have performed well in recent FCS Playoffs AND rec’d 1 vote to take the OVC/Big South Football Association Championship over those 3 Teams.
If Furman can get a win over a very tough and highly thought of TTU Team in our opener, it should do nothing but enhance our rankings / position in the polls / minds of the pundits / opinions of Playoff Selection Committee Members.

Furman will be favored, but TTU isn't going to be a pushover.

Folks might remember that two years ago, Furman won in Cookeville.
Furman's offense struggled most of the game. We relied on four field goals bookended by Devin Wynn touchdowns both early and late to reach the final tally. I was actually impressed with the Golden Eagles' fight - they were outmanned and overworked on defense, but forced Furman to fight for every yard.
The real difference in that game was TTU's inability to move the ball. Furman could have scored 3 points and have it feel like a comfortable lead. They just couldn't get anything going against our defense.
I think this Furman team is better that that Furman team, and the TTU team is better than their 2021 counterpart as well.
It's also worth noting that Furman is arguably the biggest game and best team on Tennessee Tech's schedule. Their FBS contest is against New Mexico, which went 2-10 last season in the Mountain West. A win in Greenville would give their program instant credibility and put them on the map. I expect they'll throw everything they've got at us.

I wouldn’t say just behind those 3 as they are pretty far below 3rd place point wise snd only one point ahead of 5th place. Just sayin’ Still no one to take lightly for sure.

Counting from 1 to 10, what number is “just behind” the number “3?”
HINT: The answer is “4”
Where is TTU slotted in the preseason poll?
HINT: The answer is “4”
Thus, since “just behind” = “4”
“Tennessee Tech picked just behind 3 Teams” is perfectly and absolutely correct.

Uh…no. A more correct statement is TT is just ahead of 5th place TSU by one point. They are a distant 27 points from 3rd place UTM,

That is not “more correct.”
FUBeAR’s statement was 100% correct. Despite Coaches eternally seeking Players that give 110%, there is no more than 100% available in that context and also no more than 100% available in assessing correctness.
Your description is more informational; not “more correct.”
You could make an argument that FUBeAR’s original statement was misleading (though it wasn’t) because it omitted information (that you added) that, if included, would render the original statement incorrect. But it doesn’t. As previously noted, “4” is and always will be “just behind” “3” in a whole number counting / ranking context.
Thus, “Tennessee Tech picked just behind 3 Teams,” is, as proven, 100% correct.

Ranked 3rd and way above a CSU team that coulda shoulda beat us... THIS IS THE ONLY GAME THAT MATTERS. A LOT more to lose than there is to gain. we must win this game !!!
Think if we lose... season outlook changes a lot . WIN - and do NOT NOT NOT look ahead to USC. This is the only game that matters
