When did all the Furman upsets happen?
We beat UNC 28-3 on October 30, 1999. The game was not as close as the final score. It was beautiful.

We beat S. Carolina 28-23 on October 16, 1982.

We beat NC State 18-12 on September 4, 1976.

Also:
1983 beat Ga. Tech 17-14
1984 bear NC State 34-30
1985 beat NC State 42-20(wasnโ€™t that close)
Furmanfan23: that UCF team didnโ€™t win a game, so not much of an upset.

Raise your hand if you were in attendance for all of those. ๐Ÿ–
I was. They were all so much fun! It was miserably hot in Columbia for the Carolina game!

I was also at the other games apaladin posted, except for UCF.

Two we let get away that would be high on the list:

19-17 loss at reigning UPI nat champion GaTech in 1991 (late fumble and Tech FG)

41-38 OT loss at Fiesta Bowl bound Pitt in 2005 (led 38-24 in 4Q)

Was at both of those games. Pitt won because of dirty play.

As far as the win over UCF is concerned....that UCF team was AWFUL.

We weren't FCS in 1976 so the N.C.State upset that year isn't on the FCS list. It may have been the biggest upset of the bunch. I sure wasn't expecting it. The later ones had a slightly higher level of hope before the game because of the 1976 win.
