Just bringing this thread up for some air.
Furman is really busy recruiting and making offers.

A few things of note…
Furman appears to be recruiting SC heavily - and making offers.
Furman is very active in Virginia - and making offers.

Player attributes…
Tall receivers and tight ends - most of those offered are in the 6-3 to 6-5 range.
DL/OL that seem to fit the current staff's ideal 6-2 to 6-5, 280 to 300.
Tall edge-players 6-3 to 6-5
Good to know about the “recruiting SC heavily”. No reason that SC players should not be interested in playing for Furman, particularly over any other SoCon school - unless they assume or have been told somehow (perhaps incorrectly) that they cannot make it academically at Furman.
I've always heard— mostly from parents that a player has to go through admissions before getting an offer and go on an official visit. I was told from a player parent this was not the case at Wofford as an example. My guess is SC has more players that are a match — academics, position, ability this season. This still comes down to how these SC players value a Furman offer. Furman has offered many SC players in the last several years only to lose them to mediocre FBS schools.

I want Furman to recruit the very best available football players. I don't care if they come from Mars.

Again, remember, that South Carolina is a comparatively small state with a comparatively small population to its neighbors and is home to 9 division 1 football programs. I imagine there is a lot of competition for those players who are not only inundated with local options for D1 football, but also accessible to numerous out of state programs that can easily recruit there.

It's great if Furman can grab in state players that play at a high level. We do that plenty. It's also wise for the program to recruit larger metro areas out of state. We'd be fools not to.

I feel like getting Knauber (a hometown player) is a nice early pickup for Furman. Knauber has a fast motor plays DE and DT for Greenville at 6-2 285.

Had offers from; The Citadel, Chattanooga, Wofford, Charleston Southern, Gardner Webb, Lenoir-Rhyne, UNC Pembroke, Wingate,

If Lenior Rhyne is recruiting him that is a good sign. Their football program has been on the Up for a while.

In total four SoCon offers, and two Big South offers; one from a playoff team is pretty good indication that Knauber is a valued FCS prospect.

The DINS will have some very interesting young players in the defensive box for the next several years.

Malachi Harrison 6-1 264 NG (RSFR)
Malakai Dudek 6-3 274 DT (RSFR)
Marquis Vincent 6-1 260 NG (FR)
Marc Hernández 6-4 310 DT (FR)
Bruce Knauber 6-2 285 NG/DT (HSSR)

Dudek, who played some mop up duty last season as a freshman, looks to have put on 30lbs. He was listed at 245 and now at 274.

In 2023, I imagine the goal is to see one or two of these guys start breaking into the rotation of interior defensive linemen. I expect we'll see a two deep:

NG: Stephens, Cook
DT: Sochovka, Stanfield
DE: Barton, Jackson

Of that group, I believe only Sochovka will have exhausted eligibility after this season.

Ideally, I'd like to see some of these younger guys get snaps and start building them for the future. We rotate a ton of players on defense, so it won't surprise me to see them sooner rather than later.
