Corico Wright has taken the DB coach and passing game coordinator position(s?) at Delaware. Haven’t seen an official announcement yet but he’s already updated his Twitter page.

I was disappointed to hear we were losing Rico. Love his Clemson and JMU connections, and he had clear success in improving our secondary. My impression was he was also a good recruiter. We NEED to keep our secondary an agressive and reliable part of the D. We also need to maintain strong recruiting contacts.
My "glass half full" thought is that I think our stock/status as a program has risen since we were able to hire coach Wright. So doesn't this mean we are a more desirable destination for young and upcoming coaches in the FCS or D-2 ranks? I'm optimistic we can replace him with someone every bit as talented given our recent success and combination of coaches. (We may even have someone ready to step in if Wright gave CCH a heads up he was leaving) Thoughts?

I have no idea how to accurately judge development and recruiting most of the time. My instinct is to make those judgements based solely on results (which is a big part for sure), but I'm pretty sure there is usually more to it than that. Despite some of our issues in the secondary last year, I do feel like our DBs are playing better than they were several years ago. I think there will be several people here who look at how many times we got beat on deep balls last year and just assume that's all on him. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I'm sure there are several people on here that could argue it both ways. He did seem like an active recruiter which means we've lost two guys this off season that at least seemed to be good recruiters.
Hendrix has seemed to do a good job filling openings with as good or better candidates with a position opens up, so I'm hopeful that will also be the case here.
I did notice that Dae'one Wilkins is now on staff as a defensive assistant (not grad assistant). He likely won't be the replacement, but it's cool to see him stick around the program.

Yep - good to see us adding former Players in those roles…but Wilkins did have another year of eligibility remaining.
Season GP
2018 4 - Redshirt
2019 13 - Eligibility year 1
2020 7 - Covid
2021 6 - Eligibility year 2
2022 6 - Eligibility year 3
Total 36
Know he had some injuries…maybe the reason he’s moved to Coaching…sometimes hangin’ up the cleats is just the right thing to do for one’s body. It’s always a really hard decision though. 36 games is certainly a FULL career for any College Football Player. Well done. Will look forward to his Coaching contributions!

It looked as though Coach Spangler and Coach Wright had sort of been jointly coaching the DBs - or, at least, according to the official roster.
So, there’s still a technical DB coach on the roster. Not sure if Furman is going to have two coaches in that role or just stick with Spangler.

Coach Spangler is one heck of a football coach. Dins will be just fine.

Did Wright better himself by going to Delaware? Seems like a lateral move to me. When our guys do leave, I'd like to think it's for bigger & better things.

I would assume there's a reason he'd move on.
It appears UD has bestowed upon him the title of "defensive pass game coordinator," so it could be a promotion.

Pretty sure Delaware has money to spend so he probably got a good raise. He actually has two titles now. DB coach AND pass game coordinator. A bump in salary and additional title seems like a step forward. Delaware is also one of those schools rumored to be looking at jumping to FBS so he could go from FCS position coach to FBS position coach and coordinator by the time it’s all said and done. Lateral move would be something like taking a DB coach job at Elon or somewhere like that.

He will have a big cost of living increase as well. Best wishes to him. Great Coach.
