No real marquee matchups this week. Furman and Mercer are both off.
UTC @ the Citadel
Wofford @ WCU
VMI @ Samford
I think we need to hope UTC keeps it up and beats the Citadel.
We're going to need Samford to lose, but it'd be better for them to lose at the hands of UTC at this point.
I do not think we much care who wins Wofford/WCU, though I'm a little uncomfortable that Wofford has gone from "terrible" to "ok" the last few weeks.

This is Mercer's second bye week this season. I assume that is a function of playing "Week 0"

Wofford/WCU, though I'm a little uncomfortable that Wofford has gone from "terrible" to "ok" the last few weeks.
Coaches make such a difference. 17 consecutive losses. Now 2 straight wins. We HAVE to win that game unless we beat Mercer .. like Jackal, the instant change makes me uneasy. New coach they are clearly playing better for plus they would love to ruin our season. It could be their Super Bowl …. You know their seniors would love to beat us in final

Wofford had almost 600 yds of offense but gave up almost 600 to ETSU. WC had 409 passing yds
and ETSU had 350 rushing yards. The difference was the only turnover in the game when ET threw an int to set up WC at the 12 yd line where they scored the final and winning TD.

I doubt that many on this board are fans of both Furman and Mercer. Most Furman fans I know hate Mercer. Who will you be pulling for to win our game against the hated Mercer team? Go Paladins!

Not sure what to make of ETSU anymore. They've done enough on one side of the ball to win most games, but then the other side does them no favors. Their offense seems to have gotten things together, but their defense has completely lost it. They've scored 33, 45, and 41 in their last 3 games and lost all of them. 400 passing yards against Wofford, 442 passing yards against Samford, 383 against Mercer. Crazy. Looking at their D compared to when they played us, their personnel is mostly the same according to the game notes so go figure. Maybe they're beat up, maybe they aren't playing with the same intensity/focus. Who knows? With WCU and Miss St still on the schedule, it's probably not going to get much better for them this year.

ETSU, to me, has talent, but lacks a ton of depth at multiple positions. If you can withstand their best shot, you can beat them.
Wofford is improved, but there's no reason we shouldn't control that game.

Hard to understand what is going on in Johnson City. I know GQ is new, but Billy Taylor is their D Coordinator and he has been there a while and has been on several SoCon coaching staffs. I don't think he forgot how to coach defense in a year.

Could be as simple they were picked high, lost some games early, and the wind went out of their sales.

Fair enough. I defer to you take here. Wofford / ETSU both have just been wacky lately. Exemplified in their 1100 yard game vs each their and Wofford with 400 yds yards passing. Anyway get healthy and focus on upcoming Mercer
