Playoff Bid - assuming we win the SoCon or receive an At-Large bid to the Playoffs, but do not receive a Top 8 seed, will we make a non-zero financial bid to host a 1st round Playoff game?
I think most of us know that such an endeavor is, almost assuredly, a money-losing proposition for the school/athletics department/football program. But we also know (actually…”are pretty sure” is more accurate - someone can, I’m sure, confirm) home teams win those games more frequently. And, we also know getting locals & new fans to ‘buy into’ the thrill of FCS Football is best accomplished by exposing them to the Playoffs.
So, if the answer is, “Yes, we’ll make such a bid,” what does that mean, roughly estimated dollar-wise, we think we would need to guarantee to ‘win’ a 1st round home game? What would attendance need to be to break-even? Is this something the FFPA and/or Furman Athletics Fund and/or Major Donors could/should/may be willing to support financially?
So… same questions for a quarter-final and/or semi-final (it’s possible…unlikely, but possible) game if we and another unseeded ‘bracket-mate’ happen to both knock off seeded Teams in Round 2 and/or the Quarterfinals.
Should be able to wrap this all up in 2 or 3 minutes, right?

What are the other 2 non conference football games next year besides Clemson?
Will Clemson and/or SC ever play FU in basketball?
Can the video/scoreboard be moved to behind the goalposts, ie: closer to the stands?

Is there a SoCon policy that prohibits schools from showing controversial plays on their video boards. It seems Furman never shows reviewed plays on our board. If so, it needs to be changed. This would help fans to more engaged.

The Paladins have a great basketball schedule this year - does JD think that other SoCon schools are working on improving their scheduling? I don't follow the other programs closely enough to notice any trends. Relatedly, are there any conference-level basketball efforts that haven't come up in previous interviews?

As the team has solidified a reasonably competitive NCAA reputation, are there any future plans to pursue an invitation to a high-visibility early-season basketball tournament? Assuming Coach Richey would support such, are there steps JD plans to take along such lines?

This may help answer the question.

Silly policy. It’s another way to make the officials accountable. We all know how bad SoCon officials can be.
I’ve also noticed that after a team makes a first down and the clock is stopped to allow the chain gang to move the chains, the referee re-starts the clock almost immediately, not giving the officials time to set the chains before the offense snap the ball, especially if it was a long gain.

Thought it was kinda funny when Dan asked JD about the other 2 ooc games for next year he said he would rather not say and leave it up to CCH to make that announcement. When Dan previously asked CCH about it he said he was not sure and he would leave that up to JD. Sounds like they are passing the buck, lol. Maybe Hunter can step in and let us know.

Thanks…
…and thanks to Dan for de-wordy-ing FUBeAR’s question b4 asking. Thinking a number of peeps would welcome the opportunity to perform a similar abridgment to a number of FUBeAR’s posts prior to publication.
Beautifully asked & beautifully answered. As a Top 8 seed is unlikely (even via winning out), FUBeAR is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving Saturday in Paladin Stadium cheering the Paladins on to a victory & on to Round 2.

The team has not “solidified a reasonably competitive NCAA reputation”. Have to beat more name opponents first and/or win a SoCon championship plus at least a first round NCAA tourney game before the word “solidified” would be appropriate,

Four straight seasons of 23, 23, 25 and 25 wins, a top 25 ranking and consistent rankings in the top 100 and sometimes top 50 in kenpom and ncaa net rankings beg to differ. IMHO you can’t base said non solidarity on one failure.
