So the South's oldest rivalry skips a beat because of a coin toss

I hope there is some sort of financial penalty for Citadel going for a money game in the fall instead of playing their contractually obligated SoCon game.
Screw those guys.

They get a generation of Furman fans making fun of them for forfeiting a game against them.

“After electing to play four games this fall, The Citadel was permitted to schedule only seven contests in the spring to remain within the NCAA's 11-game regular season maximum. The SoCon Council of Presidents approved a plan for the Bulldogs to compete in seven league games with one no-contest against a randomly selected league opponent. Furman was selected as that opponent in a blind draw. The no-contest is a game not played and will be considered a forfeit in the conference standings only, per NCAA policies.”
How many believe this was a blind draw? Like I said in another thread, the bellhops are skreed.

It doesn’t seem possible that we will be able to pick up a money game since the bowl teams played this fall. Our game with the bellhops was scheduled for Charleston. Hopefully, we can fill that slot with a home game.

The Bulldogs have applied for a waiver that will allow an eighth game. I wonder if that means there is still a chance of a game against The Citadel?

My question remains the same - why would they get a waiver?
It's not like there was injustice worked against them or something flukey happened. They opted to schedule 4 games in the fall when no other SoCon team did.
I understand why they may
want a waiver. I just can't figure out what their argument would be for one.

Why would they not be eligible for the title? If they finished 7-1 with the forfeit the only loss? Hope we can pick up a home game. I would rather have started with WC. I think they have a tendency to be better at the end than the start.

THIS right here. I had same thought Mr. BJ93. I think Woff is switching to a more pass-based system and many of us liked that we were playing them first before they had it all figured out.. Now they will have all the wrinkles worked out. My hope is losing those key OL (2) to the BIG Conference (Illinois and Indiana?) will hurt., Still, woulda rather played them first.
-and I too would like clarification on Citadel's eligibility to win the conference.. Logically it seems to me they could go undefeated at 7-1 and win it with the one forfeit ?
Anyone know?

So if I'm reading this correctly, FU is 1-0 in conference play right now (by virtue of the forfeit that we will get from the Hops). Am I correct.

I think it means it’s a no contest. We are not 1-0 in conference play.
