Hoping there is a chance on seeing a Furman football game in the fall of 2021. I have to agree with Urban Meyer that playing two seasons in one year would almost be impossible, only way i could see it happening would be to play to shortened schedules for both spring and fall, i would hate to see that . Really disappointed that SoCon cancelled fall football this year. I attended a Greenville Triumph soccer match this past Saturday and all fans had their temperature taken at the gate and wore masks inside the venue, at least a 1,000 fans in attendance. Of course there is more contact in a football game but these soccer players make contact and no player wore a mask. On a sidenote, i know its their right but it was very disheartening to see the Geenville team take a knee during the playing of the National Anthem, just me but i don't see what that proves.

FUBeAR hates that he feels this way, but doesn’t think we’ll see a ‘normal’ Furman Football season until 2022, if then. That is, UNLESS, A LOT of people (NCAA, University Administrators (not just FU’s...all of ‘em), Conference Officials, and in some case, University Athletics Administrators) stop ‘kneeling’ to media opinions, fear of frivolous litigation, (more) popular “science” (vs. less popular, but significant science & statistics), and just a general demeanor of fear & cowardice that has fairly suddenly permeated our collective American psyche. We will see if our previously renowned fortitude returns or not. If not, we may never see College Football, at anything other than P5 level again...and maybe not at all.
Just a comment about the Greenville Triumph Players kneeling. FUBeAR, too, would be disappointed to see that, but is, and, hopefully, always will be, completely elated that, in this country, they have the ABSOLUTE right to have an opinion & express that opinion in such a manner.
However, I’m not so sure that great American differentiator isn’t nearing an end also.
I have shaken my head as I have seen Freedom of Speech compromised by so-called “Hate Speech Laws” in Western Europe.
https://www.hoover.org/research/sordid ... peech-laws So far, as recently as 2017, the US Supreme Court has struck down such infringement here, but we can all see (even if we want to pretend that we don’t) that tide turning.
We need to let those Soccer Players kneel & we need to let the Proud Boys march in Kalamazoo & we need to let the NotF’inAround Coalition march with their AK47’s in Stone Mountain.
And people, who think we need to (gender-biasedly stated) MAN UP & play Football, should be able to express those opinions LOUDLY & PROUDLY, and even act upon them, particularly if they are in positions of responsibility to make those decisions, instead of cowering behind the ‘concerns’ of those that they are supposed to be LEADING...or kicking the can down the road to avoid being ‘cancelled.’...yet.
