A win yesterday and we would be looking at a top 4 or 5 seed. Now we will be playing in the first round on the road. I say that but we did exactly what we did not want to do, left doubt.

I like it. I was one that thought we were in regardless of yesterdays outcome but after reading on the AGS board I'm not as confident now. We left doubt.

At least we are being entertained into the final week of the regular season the past 3 years with some interest, as opposed to the Fowler days of already having the season lost

AGS peeps hate us mainly due to some Furman fans that were nearly universally disliked. Furman’s resume really isn’t super impressive. Plenty of dominating performances but we lost to four best teams on schedule. There are probably 26 or so teams that have a shot to get in. I don’t think we are a lock, but I would still be pretty stunned if we didn’t make it in. I really hope we will spend some money to host. An OVC team would be great. And then hit the road if they win.

It's going to be an interesting selection: a lot of would-be at-large teams have similar profiles. The biggest weakness in Furman's profile is lack of a win over a likely playoff team, but many of the other would-be at-large teams have the same weakness. As much as I hate to type this, the extra smidgen of benefit we get from being 8-4 with a win over Point as opposed to 7-4 and a bye next week could be very important (even though that makes no logical sense to me). Overall, I estimate an 80% chance we get in.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
