Final. UTC scores with 28 seconds left. I know we are disappointed but Citadel team and fans have to be crushed.

WC has wrapped up the autobid. UTC can tie for a championship with a win over VMI and Citadel win over WC. In that scenario a 3 tie.

So we are SoCon co-champs if Citadel beats Wofford next Saturday

Good news is that should put us as the SoCons #2 team
It should but it's really not about what conference you are in. Remember the committee takes the coaches poll and eliminates the non participants. FU should still be in the top 20.

Help here. So Woff HAS the autobid. Right? Even if they lose to Citadel. Then three teams could be 6-2. Furman (complete 6-2). Woff if they lose and Chatt if win at VMI. I expect Chatt to win.

If Woff loses and Chatt wins Woff gets autobid and three teams are SoCon champs. Furman. Woff. Chatt. Then we hope to make playoffs as at large.

If Woff wins v Citadel the entire SoCon is theirs at 7-1. Outright. And Furman and Chatt probably (again I think Chatt will win v VMI) get second at 6-2. In either case we await our fate as at-large

Do I have that right? Please correct me where wrong

Also is there any advantage for us to Woff winning or losing??? . This is my big question. I want a SoCon champ but also playoffs and if Woff wins we arent champs but maybe we look better as Woff ran off 8? FCS wins in a row. If Woff loses to Citadel do we not look as good?

Curious your opinions. Thanks in advance !

Unfortunate for the Citadel. With a win over us and a win over Wofford next week, I think they're more worthy to make the playoffs, especially with the FBS win over GA Tech.

The Citadel loss was absolutely huge and IMHO means we are IN the playoffs. A great ending to this story would be for us to win our first playoff game (possible since it would not be a top 8 team) and then have us play Wofford again and to beat them.

UTC is 6-5 and even if they win next week that are OUT of the playoffs. Ditto for the Citadel. A 7-5 team will not get in.

Furman will definitely get in the playoffs now because there are only two Southern Conference teams who have any chance of getting in AND most importantly because of our ranking. So we are IN.

A Wofford loss next week is our only chance of being a Conference Champion so why not take that also. I do not think it will affect our playoff seeding either way.

A Citadel win today and next week would have been horrific for Furman. Citadel would have gotten the automatic bid and Wofford would have gotten in playoffs because they will be higher ranked than us and beat us head-to-head. I think it would have been the second year in a row of us not getting in playoffs (I know the rules say forget which conference you are in and look at ranking but I just don’t think 3 SC teams would have gotten in).

Citadel loss today -problem solved as far as getting in the playoffs. But our pathway will be much tougher because of loss today.

If we play Wofford again, what makes you think we would beat them.
I can see us losing twice at their place in the same year, like we did 2 years ago. Who wants that, unless you’re Wofford?
If we do get in playoffs, that’s good because more practice and more game experience, for our players AND for our coaches, who seem to need more experience IF they can learn from it and be better coaches.
But I am doubtful we deserve to be in playoffs. And it was good to finish last year with a win. I hope we can beat Point.

Unfortunately IF we are in and we should be because of regionalization I could see something like a road game at Kennesaw St with the winner playing at WC. WC will either get a seed or at worst a first round home game. Don't see FU getting a home game for obvious reasons. First round home games go to the highest bidder.

Hard with three SoCon losses.

By the way, Virginia Tech beat Georgia Tech like a drum today - 45-0.

We certainly should not bother wasting any money for a first round home game, we would have 1,000 people show up on thanksgiving weekend, on the road we should go

Respectfully disagree. Citadel has four losses to mediocre FCS teams. G-Tech is an awful football team...akin to us beating UCF in 2015. There are MANY more teams deserving of an at-large bid.

I ask again. - Shoukd I be pulling for Woff or Citadel next week?

I assume Citadel since that would give us a back to back SoCon title at 6-2 w Furman and Woff and Chatt. Or does that hurt our playoff chances for Woff to lose? As it makes our loss look worse? I THINK we are in playoffs w our ranking (probably 16 after this week) so I am assuming I pull for a Citadel win to add a SoCon title ? Thoughts ?

I think we are IN playoffs regardless so I am pulling for Citadel to beat Wofford and us back-door into a co-championship. Nobody cares about the details especially down the road. A ring is a ring.

Luck etc. with the playoff draw comes into play. We would not have beaten many teams today. Sure Wofford is good but at times this season we are our own worst enemy. When you miss wide open receivers it does not matter whether you are playing Clemson or North Greenville. Play well and we can beat most at our level. Play poorly and you lose.
