quite the turnaround up there.. led by coach and QB - congrats to VMI.
I hadn't seen this:
http://www.espn.com/espn/wire?section=ncf&id=27910228
VMI QB's interceptions-free streak is FCS record
"Against Mercer last Saturday, the 6-foot-4 junior pushed his season-opening streak of
consecutive passes without an interception to 344, surpassing the FCS single-season and career records of 342 set by Portland State's Jimmy Blanchard in 1999"
Wow - and they have the RB who is running wild too.. just not a great D to speak of

You just couldn't wait a couple weeks to start this thread, could you
Reasons to think we will win.....
- they lost to Mercer who we destroyed
- they squeaked out a win vs a Samford team that we destroyed
Reasons to worry....
- they beat Citadel who destroyed us
I like our chances. I was remarking after the Citadel game that our D may have evolved to be more effective vs passing teams than powerful run teams.

I cannot remember the name of their running back but he is like a heavy bowling ball-very good.
Don’t know when we last lost to VMI but the next time it happens we will know the world is not right.
But they have a good team this year. I have watched a good bit of 3 of their games.

My schedule says we play WCU this week.

I really was just giving the VMI qb and coach some credit. Truly my point in posting this. That’s an insane number of throws without a pick - How does no throw just go Bouncing off the WR hands and get picked in 300+ throws. INSANE! man I try to be POSITIVE and congratulatory on this board and get sniped. if only I weren’t so positive.
I mean I dislike Woff and Citadel. But VMI? They haven’t anything good in 20 years. To get an ESPN article regarding their success? That’s awesome.
Just being positive about a team in our conference. That’s all. We need to focus on wcu.
But VMI being better Helps SoCon perception. That’s good

I'm honestly thrilled that VMI is having some success after so many awful years. Not thrilled enough to hope they beat us and win the SoCon, but glad they aren't at the bottom again. Pretty remarkable that their QB has zero INTs all year. Even in the age of spread QBs, that's still unheard of.

Don’t know, but I’d hazard a guess it was 1979 - 21-20, on a missed XP kick; the 6th loss of a 5-6 season that started 0-5, including losses to NAIA’s Wofford & PC.
Not a lot of fun during those 5 weeks. Everywhere we went, fans were ‘sympathizing’ with our plight & saying we HAD to fire these sorry Coaches....I think 4 of whom are now enshrined in the FU Athletics Hall of Fame.

We’ve got two games ahead of us before VMI. I’m heading to Cullowhee and Chattanooga before I have to think about the VMI 🦘.

A lot more recent. We lost to VMI 31-15 in 2014, just 5 years ago.

Sure - I was just trying to congratulate a team (VMI) on how much they have improved and a remarkable accomplishment. nothing more

I would suggest putting this thread in the suspense file for a few weeks. VMI’s time will come soon enough. FU has 2 important games to play and win before playing VMI.

I don't know if it belongs in the suspense file, maybe drama?

I hear loss of short-term memory is the 1st sign of impending chronic CRS syndrome.

Change the title to VMI and move it to the FCS forum.
