Good list. Even though he was only here two years, I would consider Ingle Martin. He broke virtually every passing record in just two years and led the team to two of the best finishes in modern times ... and in my opinion, was a slip away from a national title. I'm sure a stronger case could be made for Bobby Lamb or Frankie DeBusk, but that was before my time.

In terms of players, hard not to have Ingle Martin in there.

Statistically, the 2005 offense was the best Furman offense in the program's history. While not winning a title, you could make a compelling case that Furman was the best team in the FCS in 2004 and 2005.

Martin went 21-6 as a starter only lost only once in Greenville (to eventual national champ JMU in 2005). I'm extrapolating, but Furman lost to App (2005), JMU (2005), and Pitt (2004) with a healthy dose of incredibly bad luck that really had little to do with Martin. Furman well could have (and probably should have) won national titles in both of those seasons.

as to players who set the bar mighty high on and off the field, I would have to include John Bagwell. H e ran with his whole body and soul, and was a true champion.

What’s the limit? If it’s 20 here it’s is....lots of names worthy but these are mine....

3 OLmen. 4 if you meant Vince as a legit, rather than an ‘honorary.’ Glad to see even 1 named in this kind of discussion, but, while each of those mentioned is certainly mention-worthy, if you’re starting a list of the greatest Furman O-Linemen, there’s only 1 name you can use to start that list - Charlie Anderson - 3 time All SoCon, 2 time Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner, Blue-Grey All-Star Game, NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winner.

Honorable mention Clay Hendrix!
