It's also a good LESSON for the rest of FCS. JSU plays an easier schedule, get a seed and win at home (vs ETSU) last year. Playing that schedule gets them in the playoffs! and it often gets them into the quarterfinals as they get a bye week (sweet 16) and then beat one team in first round of playoffs (ETSU) so making it farther than most any SoCon team in past 5 years !! JSU is often a strong team but they get a seed where many others would not by scheduling. Wofford does a good job of this - and that KILLS me to say but they do. Pretty much guarantee themselves a playoff spot by playing GWebb, SC State and Clemson. Win the first two and even if second in SoCon they make the plaThe Jackal wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:42 amThat Jacksonville State score is a good one for the rest of the FCS. JSU tends to play a soft schedule in the OVC, rarely is threatened, and often ends up with a seed. Getting blown out in Week 1 in a season where they don't have a ton of opportunities to beat good teams may scuttle their chance for a seed.
Would agree with your assessment of SDSU. Had to go to bed entering the fourth, but the Jackrabbits were playing on the road in an FCS/FBS matchup with a true freshman starting QB and had the lead until about 5 minutes left in the game. A couple of penalties gave away two TDs and an awful pick 6 gave the Gophers free points. SDSU will be very tough yet again nationally.apaladin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 12:04 amSDSU sorta gave it away. Had a pick 6 early in the 3rd quarter and then fumbled on their own 30 with 8 minutes to go to set Minnesota's winning TD.
Other close losses.

I too watched most of the South Dakota State vs. Minny game last night. SDSU dominated most of the game and would have won by more than a touchdown had they not beaten themselves with turnovers and penalties. The MVFC looks loaded again this year.fufanatic wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 10:34 amWould agree with your assessment of SDSU. Yep, Iowa St was ranked too. ISU kicked a FG late to tie and send it to OT. UNI was up by 3 with in the second OT and ISU fumbled at the one and UNI just missed recovering to which would have ended the game. ISU ended it on the next play.
