with the absolute dearth of information out there for the new and exciting CSU football team, i would like to know what you guys think we can expect to see out of them?
Autry Denson is indeed a huge improvement over the staff they have had since Chadwell and Staggs left, but from all I can see is that he intends to make them a pass happy offense. That may be a long term result, but do you think they actually have the personnel to pull that off?
Coach Denson has the acumen to be able to be able to break down a defense with his experience at ND, so he is capable of seeing some schemes he would be able to exploit if he had the personnel. I personally don't think we will see the "Air-Raid" offense simply because they are not really built to be able to run it correctly.
This is a good thing, as it will give our Defensive Backfield a good look to get into the groove.
I think we can all agree that that has been a soft spot for us in the past few years, but with the talent we have back there now, and the leadership, it should only take "reps" and we should be good...fingers crossed.
As for their Defense, they seem to have to rebuild... a lot, so they should have their hands fill with our "multiple hybrid" offense.
I hope we get to see many different players on the field for us, and to see both QB's.
I have a good feeling about this season, and its FINALLY here!
Thoughts?

And on offense let the Oline dominate
and if they try to stack the box to stuff our run, we just play action them to death

CSU's OC, Felton Huggins, came from LaGrange College.
Here's a look at LC's team last year (they are red and black):
Looking at LC's stats, they attempted 321 pass attempts and 289 rush attempts. They rushed for about 111 per game. They used a TE as an H-Back type player, but were not a true air raid team, despite the emphasis on passing. It's not a 1:1 comparison, but I think Mercer is probably a good comp in terms of philosophy - mostly single back, spread, use of TEs, and throw more than run philosophy.
CSU knows they are an underdog. Against any underdog, Furman cannot let them hang around. I imagine you will CSU try to get a young QB in rhythm with the new offense by completing a lot of short/easy throws, screens, hitches, etc. early on.
Furman, for its part, will likely come out and try to establish the running game. Haymakers are a part of Furman's offense generally, and they will probably go for one or two early to put CSU on the ropes.
Bottom line for Furman: win the turnover battle, don't give up big plays, cover kicks, and don't let CSU think they can hang around.

CSU beat Point University 66-0 in game 3 of 2017 season. I hope that we will have no reason on 11/23/2019 to want to beat Point by 66 or anything at all near that. I don’t think we will. I greatly hope we will have our minds on just beating Point that day so we can turn our attention to getting ready for a home playoff game. First things first, let’s just win this game Saturday 8/31/2019. Beat CSU.

Any team that throws a lot has to be a concern. I believe that CSU has a transfer QB from SC.

they do - transfer QB from USC and a strong WR and their best recruit (possible) is a WR w 7 FBS offers including WVU !
I know, they aren't great... just saying everyone has talent. Need to smash em and get a win

I like what I'm hearing from the FU coaches and players, an excellent new post on the Gville times - a tad old news but still a good post for all the people who don't get there news on gopaladins.com
I'm excited to watch the running game - and if Furman's depth plays a role against CSU. I expect a lot of rotations on offense as well as a lot of sub-packages on defense.
Anything can happen it's the first game against a new-look team, so we might dance a bit early to figure out what the BUCS plan to do. I expect Furman to put the pressure on in the second half.

agree w Astro. We have no idea what plays they run so even if we are better as suspected it could take a while. On other hand, they are learning on the fly w new system. Should benefit us. Hopefully depth and experience allow us to pull away in 2nd half. not greedy - just win this one ! it's been said so many times but 0-3 two years in a row. Players could use an early win to get confident. so any win is a good win...
If we could get reps for lots of guys that would be great but thats a bonus. Want to see good QB play and DL/DB play

Honestly, there are so many different offenses in the SoCon, there's really nothing they can throw at us that we haven't seen.
We probably know more about them that you might expect.

If it’s in the Greenville Day-old News, it will be a tad old. I’m looking forward to reading the summary of our game in Monday’s edition, maybe.
