We are essentially a JV team right now . Take a look at the starters we have lost since the preseason (and the quality of players gone) and who we lined up today. In addition IMO our coaching has not been what we have come to expect from a CCH led team. Really a perfect storm for a really bad season. The only real bright spot I can find is the play of Colton Hinton and Evan DiMaggio… ballers. I still believe CCH will turn this around in the coming seasons and some of our currently abused youngsters are going to look a whole lot different in 2 or 3 years.

WCU with 808 yards of total offense.

Yes I know we are young. Yes I know we have injury issues.

But we are horrible. Everyone associated with this program should be tremendously embarrassed by the last couple of weeks.

And the worst part is there is no reason for optimism of any sort.

Glad I skipped making the drive out to Paladin Stadium today.
Wish I had stayed home with you.
Right. WHERE IS THE IMPROVEMENT ? WE ARE GETTING WORSE !!! I’m aware of injuries. But there is no cause for this

I've stopped watching the games and we've got problems...

But some of you need to chill.

IMHO if you have already stopped watching the games you have no right to tell people that actually go to the games to chill. Just sayin’

The 801 yds offense and 620 yds passing were all-time opponent records.

The only goal left in the season to shoot for is beating WC which of course is highly unlikely.
BTW today tied the record for most points allowed in PS.
1994- Citadel 52 FU 44
2009- App. St. 52 FU 27

Wow. About once every 15 or so years. May we hope it's 2040 or after before the next opponent gets 52 in PS. But I am worried that just "hoping" will not be enough. Today was awful. I expect some more awful days are ahead.

IMHO we have a stupidly young team, that went through a very unexpected players death this spring, arguably one of our star players is no longer with the football team, and Furman was just hit with a once in a thousand year natural disaster.

I would love Furman to win the remainder of their games but I'm not judging the state of the program or the coaches on any of this.

I understand it is our right to be frustrated as fans but maybe I've become desensitized to fans saying the sky is falling because they do that regardless of how many games Furman wins.

I haven't read the thread, but win or lose, we'll have folks complaining. It's always something. I ignore them. They are going to complain regardless of what the team does.

The numbers are bad today, but I'm not sure what we are expecting out there.

- We lost 5 starters in the defensive backfield (including SPUR) from last season.
- Of the 5 starters we have to replace, three of those positions have lost the replacement starter for the year (Moson, Burrell, Hartwell). Burrell and Hartwell never played at all this year.
- Our primary backup at FS, played maybe 1 game.
- We are down three Bandits (our primary pass rusher). Our starter today was a freshman who likely wasn't even slated to be on the three deep at the position this season.
- We were playing the best QB in the league.

I mean, I get it. It's frustrating to watch. We're young. We've lost most of our depth. We lost our primary pass rushers. And today we were facing a guy that is going to tear you a part if you can't get it his face. And he did.

There's a lot to be frustrated with. We can't stop the pass. We can't stop the run. Our offense can't stay on the field. Our special teams looks out of sorts. This is an anomaly for a Clay Hendrix team. At this point, we are just outgunned every week.

Hard to believe we went from the best team in 20 years to the worst in my lifetime in one season. I’m an ‘83 grad so do the math. Love going to Homecoming, but glad I missed this embarrassment.
YEP. started in 91. Never seen such a bad team. Never. What happened. They don’t even have their best WR Columbo playing. Good grief.

Not true. WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA - meaning WCU. had a once in a thousand year natural disaster - NOT FURMAN. but their team looks just fine. Furman was classified as once a century storm. Not once in a thousand years. . Western North Carolina was once per 1000 years. I know that facts ruin arguments but let’s keep with Facts

Like if people said we had 25 injuries. Instead of 15. please use FACTS.

This post of a “once in a thousand year disaster” is the one to ignore. It’s just WRONG. Upstate was once per hundred years. Cmon. Losing power for 5 days doesn’t excuse this football. If anything, compared to Western NC (!!!!!!!!) we have no excuse. That stuff - lake Lure etc - was horrible

Injuries. Maybe.

Thorny- you seem to be a great fan! Great ! But great fans usually don’t just quit watching their team.

That is odd. I always gave USC Gamecock fans big credit for attending in big numbers (70,000) in a 2-8 year. That’s a FAN. Keep coming and watching win or lose. No bandwagon. Easy to watch when winning. We need to keep watching even when losing. Well. My worthless opinion.
