My brother says he could have passed the bar without USC Law School as long as he took the prep course. As far as practicing goes, he learned what he needed to know by working for a lawyer while in school. He's done OK.

With the number of transfers taking up scholarships does that not reduce the number of high schoolers getting scholarships? Michigan St. took 20 transfers this psst season. Of course knowing FBS they will soon move to unlimited schooarships like it used to be.

Yep…with the NCAA soon to be approximating the role of the Management Company hired by the P5 HOA, the Haves will have the Have-Lesses evicted PDQ via exerting their financial leverage. FUBeAR will bet on Texas to be the last home standing and the Golden Goose will soon be oiled up & dropped in the Fryer on the Longhorns’ back patio…

I think it depends on the school, really.

If you are going to take 20 transfers then, yeah, it probably has an effect on high school recruiting at your particular school.

Of course, if we want to get really into the weeds, you can argue that with the explosion of the number of D1 football teams that there's literally hundreds/thousands of scholarship spots available to high school players that didn't exist 15-20 years ago. So, maybe this is a market correction.

For every transfer “in” that uses a scholarship there is a transfer “out” that frees one up.

The only priblem is that one will be filled with a transfer or could in all likelihood. There are plenty of transfers to go around.

It doesn’t. The extra Covid year probably eliminated some opportunities for HS recruits, but not transfers. It does make sense that proven commodities at G5 and FCS transferring up will take away spots in P5 programs, but they open up spots at the lower levels. I think that’s how it’s going to be. The big boys will raid the lower levels for good proven players and perhaps rely a little less on more risky HS recruits.

Good luck to Hope. Unsurprising he ended up at a program with a bunch of former Furman coaches. At least we won't have to play him.

Also don’t have to worry about playing against Timmy. Good luck to him!

Need the State Gov’t of SC to step in & stop this sort of crime against nature from occurring. States have laws preventing HS kids from getting any NIL money (aside: gonna be interesting when those get challenged and struck down), so surely they can move swiftly for this type of emergency.

I am pro transfer portal.

Kids shouldn't have the success of their college football careers so dependent the whims of coaching changes, personality conflicts, etc. It's not like they get to do a do over.

I also understand that there is more to choosing which school to play football at than academics, facilities, play-off opportunities, being able to relax on one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation during down time, having a cool mascot, uniforms, etc...but seriously, why would someone choose the Citadel over Furman?

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
