So can we stack or not? Seems like a great way to get more great football players when we can use some academic money and some football money. The type of kids we attract are good academically and athletically. It just seems like a great way to increase and attract more of the talent pool we are after.
FUBeAR believes he heard JDVPAD say in one of his sessions with Dan that we can now, again, “stack” athletic and academic / other financial aid. BUT, FUBeAR is not 100% sure of that…could be just FUBeAR’s wishful thinking and/or persistent optimism.

Perhaps Dan recalls / knows and can respond to this query when he has an available moment.

Or… does anyone else know for certain? Paul C is usually well-informed regarding these types of matters.

Forcier was the worst misuse of talent ever.

Georgia State said Grainger was.

Revisiting the stacking topic for creativity in scholarships. Can we or not? Why not?

Pretty sure that, at least up until recently we do not stack. I seem to recall hearing we lost a player to someone pretty recently because we could not stack. But could be my faulty memory in old age.

The bigger issue is really the overall cost vs. our available aid, academic and athletic combined. And no real NIL on top of it. Mercer just basically went out and bought a SoCon title.

Furman should have about 2900 students and right now we are in the 2300 category I think. We really need more tuition paying students. Even if we are discounting down to say 35k, that is $21M annual in revenue not being generated. We simply have to fill these beds/seats in order to take pressure off overall budgets.

In a business sense, it's obvious - there is only so much in expenses we can attack. We have to drive the topline, and we are maxed out in price. We need more "sales" so to speak. More students.

Yes. Got to drive top line. A successful football program helps with that. In regards to stacking, if we don't, is that a school policy or some other policy?

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
