quick Citadel fact - Cit is healthiest since GTEch game. Rainey and BBack are back to pretty healthy. Should we win? yes, but I am scared ;) .. but objectively Rainey was gimpy after GTech and it showed as it appeared to limit him getting the edge and timing. And the healthy BBack really helps them
I don't think their defense is going to stop our offense.

The Citadel has surrendered a touch over 37 ppg in 3 SoCon games and have yet to play the league's best offense (Furman's).

I fully expect the Citadel to try and keep our offense on the sidelines. You won't see them punt unless they have to. They are going to try and play keep away. Furman needs to make the most of their possessions and force a turnover or two.

GF- Regarding red-shirts CCH said in his press conference that they are looking at several freshmen for possible red-shirts. He said one had already played 3 games. Another had one game and others had no games. Austin Jones could be one of them. He did say that Bell was ready to play and could have played against Samford but they really didn't need him and didn't want to just throw him in there and waste a game. He did say Bell could help and they plan on playing him at least 4 games.

Coach Hendrix also said the staff discussed the redshirt issue in detail. The four-game rule works and is easy to work within if you only have to consider the regular season. However, play-off games count against the 4-game rule, so it's more difficult to manage when you have to consider possible play-off games.

Just a quick scan, the only true freshman I can (easily) find that has played in 3 games is Roberto. He was obviously put into duty with the injury to Maples.

It's an interesting consideration. I think you can throw these guys out there and get some game experience, but you also do not necessarily want to lose an entire year of eligibility for a few games in 2019.

I think the rule ultimately helps teams like Furman. I remember not long ago that Wofford had held a kid out all season and then was forced to play him in the playoff game at North Dakota State due to injuries. He lost his redshirt by playing one game deep into the post season.

He also said Maples is finally back on the field but said he was not sure he would play this week. It would depend on how practice goes. Dominic Roberto has been a pleasant surprise and has done a great job.

Maples returning would make a big difference to how they treat Roberto's load the rest of the year.

Jumper has played in all 6 games.
right, just looking at FR and where they stand on redshirts..
- C Jumper has used his RS and he is very impressive !!! We needed 2 centers and he is outstanding
- RB I'll take your word that Roberto has used 3 games - I was wondering on that. But If Maples can't go ROberto needs to stay out there as CH believes in depth and not wearing guys out. So we have to have someone behind Abrams. Matter of fact CH mentioned Abrams a few weeks ago as having to play a few too many plays.
- Wayne Anderson? TB
-Toomey I think played some early in year as OT backup? maybe a game or three?

D
- Agbenou ? LB I suspect he has used his RS with special teams participation and now LB work?? W Vann out even if he hadn't used his already I suspect he would.
-Chizik- CB I suspect he has played more than 4 games already?
H Ryan - Safety I suspect he has used his RS already too?

Anyone know if that is right or where I am way off?
Looks to me like the 3 players on D would have already gone past 4 games. I really don't know about Anderson and Toomey?

The players stats are ordinarily listed on their bio page on the roster.
Thanks - that's where I went to. appreciate it.

I looked at Wayne Anderson TB and he has no stats but I think he has participated?? or has he not entered a game? I think all you have to do is enter the game and that counts.

OT Toomey shows as 4 games so that makes sense that he is not on two deep anymore w redshirt...
RB Roberto has participated in 3 games as said above.
C Jumper has playd 6 games so no redshirt there.

Agbenou has playd 6 games so no redshirt left
Chizik has played 6 games so no redshirt left
Hugh Ryan has also playd 6 games so no redshirt left

so the true Fr of interest to redshirt - are Roberto having played 3 games... Toomey - looks like they are redshirting him w 4 games in book and now he is off the 2 deep... and Wayne Anderson? Also will Austin Jones play.. and Bell

So I did my due dilignece. Am I crazy or hasn't Wayne Anderson been in the KOR game or something??

Anderson has played 5 games with 153 yards rushing and 2 TDs: https://furmanpaladins.com/cumestats.as ... &year=2019

He scored the final TDs against both CSU and Samford.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
