There is no current vaccine available for community use and no country on earth that is close to herd immunity. Anyone familiar with the search services Google offers could have obtained that information in about 30 seconds. Since anecdotal descriptions of the severity of the virus seem popular, a 22 year old EMT in Greenville County died of the disease last week.
I could have shared numerous local obits of middle-aged healthy individuals; that was just the most recent.

I was responding to the inaccurate comment that everyone under the age of 65 without a chronic condition would "do fine". Even for those who survive after extended hospitalizations, we don't know the long term sequelae of ARDS and renal failure from the virus, or consequences from the vasculitis syndrome observed in children, but according to the UFFP's resident experts, everyone will do fine.
I happen to have known and worked with him. He fell into the at-risk group. He was a good guy and I enjoyed working with him.

I finally got around to ordering my season tickets yesterday. Georgie told me that Furman could only seat 4,000 this year. We had to move up a row in order to social distance from our friends in front of us. ;)

Wondering when Furman will be notifying the lucky 4,000.

I heard ticket sales are extremely low. Everyone that wants to go will get in, but maybe at a different seat location. Sounds like stadiums will be limited to 25% capacity.

If PS is capped at 4,000, I wonder how many - or few - will be allowed in Timmons for BB.

The 25% rule would equate to 625 fans allowed in Timmons. Hopefully we will play even more games downtown, which means 3,750 in attendance. However, if folks around here don’t wake up and think about others, there might not be any fans in the stands. Practice social distancing. Wear a mask.

It’s still over 2 and a half months away. No one know yet.

I expect most schools already know about what to expect and how to address it. Western has already communicated something for season ticket holders. By the way, most of the larger schools will not allow anyone on the end seats. I guess sitting at the end is not 6 feet from those using the aisles. http://catamountsports.com/news/2020/6/ ... pdate.aspx

Just to keep it realistic: consider that a 25% rule in an outdoor stadium setting may translate into a 20% rule in a closed building, Timmons. So count on 500 max capacity for basketball, if we are lucky. But hopefully things will get a lot better by 5 months from now.
Consider also that a similar formula for BSWA would mean 3,000 max there. A problem with that is the lower revenue from ticket sales, while the cost to use the BSWA would probably not be lower.

Georgie told me that she wasn't sure if she would have any walk-up tickets on game day. This made me think sales were going well.

Not directly related to Furman, but it does have influence on what happens in all of college football this fall.

Good for them. At this rate, everyone will be immune before the season.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
