The new Wofford site is hard to read - kinda surprised I feel that way - I think it's the font choice.
Apparently, Astro is the UFFP’s resident Brick...

Good news is covid numbers continue to fall in Greenville, the state and across the nation.

Is there a certain number FU is looking for before they allow fans or is the threshold sort of vague?

Athlon / Craig Haley doesn’t like the Spring ‘Dins as much as the guys from Hero Sports - ranks FU #15

https://athlonsports.com/college-footb ... 021-spring

15. Furman
(8-5, 6-2 Southern)
Previous Ranking: 18
Running backs Devin Wynn (1,182 yards, 14 TDs) and Devin Abrams eat up big gains for a living. Junior defensive end Adrian Hope (21.5 career sacks) hopes to devour more quarterbacks.

He has the SparkleCity SmallMutts @ #20. No other SoCon Teams ranked...or in his “on the cusp” Teams - total of 31 Teams. I’ve noticed Mr. Haley has not seemed to be a fan of the SoCon for a while now. With recent OOC & Playoff performance, it’s getting harder to argue with his thinking.

7 CAA Teams in Top 31
6 MVFC Teams in Top 31
4 Big Sky
4 Southland
3 OVC
2 Big South
2 MEAC
2 SoCon
1 Pioneer

Oh...BTW...for our resident semi-closeted PunyPups Fan(s), I just learned your favorite team has a new message board (actually been up since Sept ‘20) - https://woffordfans.com/ - if you haven’t already, be sure to bookmark.
Yea can’t argue with this. Hero gives the optimistic view any SoCon fan starts the season with and Athlon is giving a pretty good look at where the SoCon ends the season the last few years.

I think Furman is better than 15th. I also think the SoCon hasn't done a lot to plant their foot back in the national conversation. Furman has a lot to do with both of those things.

FYP

Also - “Postponed” - As the Mocs & the Keydets open weeks do not align, there are only 2 ways for this game to be rescheduled.

1) Chatt & VMI play 2 games in 1 week - while that works in the NFL, the Sun Belt, and the MAC, I don’t think it will work for any Team this Spring. And, wondering just how interested Chatt is in playing ANY games this Spring, I sure don’t see them suddenly channeling their inner Ernie Banks and saying, “Let’s play 2 (in 1 week)”

2) A whole lotta SoCon Teams rearranging their schedules to accommodate Chatt’s claimed Covid issues. Don’t see that happening either, but it’s more likely than #1 above.

BTW - lots of pics on Twitter of bunches of Mocs Feetsball Players practicing in recent weeks.

Exhibit 1 - Tweeted by HS Coach visiting (in the midst of a pandemic! [overlay sounds of pearls being clutched]) Chatt Football practice with their Staff today...

As anticipated, the QB depth chart is Sisson and Hardin. I watched the film on Walton a while back, and while not a big guy, he definitely looks good.

https://furmanpaladins.com/news/2021/2/ ... backs.aspx

From everything I've read, it certainly appears that Sisson just flat won the job over Grainger. Reading between the lines, it may not have been a particularly close call.

I'm not willing to read that far between the lines. Yes, it has been implied that Sisson won the QB battle but coach speak is coach speak. Sisson is our QB, our coaches are happy with him, and Wofford wishes they had him. That is what I know for sure.

MEAC football down as more programs opt-out
A total of nine programs have opted out of MEAC football, forcing the league to suspend the spring season

I see what you did there with the $. Good move. Every football player in the MEAC should leave.

AnkleBiters Head Coach’s profile is the target of a Wikipedia War around his current Employer & Role

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Conklin

In Jan. he interviewed for, but was not selected to be Illinois’ DC. Now he’s pursuing the same role with the Vols. Man wants his ticket out of SparkleCity, ASAP, doesn’t he?

If UT-K hires him, they sure won’t wait until April for him to hit the SEC Recruiting trail & to miss Spring Practice.

I think Wofford's DC just took an analyst job with LSU (like a week or so ago).

Things may be unwell.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
