It was hard to see because Gibbs is as dark if not darker than PS. New stats poll:
12. W&M
14. MERCER
23. UTC
24. WCU
27. WC
34. FU
41. ETSU
Bias is evidence with NDSU staying at #2 despite the ETSU game. We would still be top 15 if we would have pulled out the CSU game but we are not a top 25 team right now.
UTC at 0-3 but still ranked, I understand the context but has that ever happened to an 0-3 team before

Also, imagine how watered down FCS football will look if eventually the likes of NDSU, SDSU, Montana, Mt. St., Idaho were to bolt to the Mountain West......
Top 25 will be full of very few name brand programs any more with all the mass departures the past decade.....
NDSU, SDSU,Montana, Montana State, Idaho - relatively few people would call those “name brand” - please, let them go asap

In this day an age of a watered down FCS those are name brands by FCS standards lol.......

We will be left with just the Kumquat University's of the world to play against before long

Probably so, it’s hard to get to play top 25 fcs teams when you rarely go outside the Carolinas for fcs games. Yes there have been a few including this week but few and far between.

Great question.
I THINK there was one a few years ago. Almost sure. In past 3/4 years. I’ll look

EDIT. FOUND IT. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut and al, that. Lol. I was barely right. 2021. NC A&T came in ranked number 24 and we beat them.
Wouldn’t be a bad home and home to keep going as they probably bring some attendance.

I knew about that one (glad to win it), but that was a home game, I was trying to think of the last road game and I could not find one since 2005...

I would bet we will get we will get all W&M has to offer. I’d say the general feeling is that we are better than what we’ve shown and we are in the rise. It’s a matter of when. W&M won’t want a loss to an unranked opponent.

W&M released their game notes for those interested.

https://static.tribeathletics.com/custo ... furman.pdf
FUWolfpacker, THANK YOU ! Seriously Thanks ! I hadn't run across this

Wouldn't have guessed this one from the notes:

SUCCESS VS. FCS IN NON-CONFERENCE
W&M has won 43 of its last 45 games against non-conference FCS opponents during the regular
season. The lone losses during that span are Lafayette (2012) and Colgate (2018).

Additionally W&M owns a 46-3 record vs. FCS non-conference teams during the regular season
dating back through the 2002 season.

That's SICK. I mean SICK. maybe it's all VMI and Colgate? Still, you have to account for 4-turnover games (cough cough JK)... but seriously... somewhere in there you would think there is more variance than that. Just a bad day. High turnover game. Crazy things happen with an oblong ball... FORTY-THREE OUT OF FORTY-FIVE OOC games?? Do they play VMI 3 times every year :D ... I mean we have been great the past few years and have lost far more that. FAR MORE. that's wild.

I looked at 2023 - good opponents in general: Campbell, Wofford (yeah they stunk last year but had been much better), and CSU
2022 - Campbell, Lafayette, not sure others as I don't know CAA all that well
Norfolk State and Bucknell in some years.
So Not Great competition but like us vs. CSU just some variance would dictate you lose 5 or 6 of any 45 games. That is truly amazing consistency.

“ The lone losses during that span are Lafayette (2012) and Colgate (2018).”

So 0-2 against high academic small private schools. Bodes well for us!!! Follow the facts!!

GF - I know you are waiting on my score prediction. Come Saturday, it'll be 43 of 46.
AllTimeFU, I have to admit your last score prediction was AWESOME - seriously. Congrats on that last guess v Stetson

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
