Just get out healthy. Try and learn vs a top 10 FBS. That said i hate we are at HOT AZZ Ole Miss instead of even Clemson etc. Probably end up 99 degree on the field easy. Huge advantage for Ole Miss. DEPTH DEPTH DEPTH. they can just run WRs and OL and DL In and out. Even later September would help. We have done our best vs some FBS nearer to October. At least I think I recall a post with our early September vs our October FBS record and performance. Regardless the heat - first game in daggum Mississippi ! Is not good

Stay healthy. Get reps. Learn and improve !

Since Ole Miss is wearing all-white I suspect FU will will wear their normal home uni. Might add the new purple helmet but not sure how it matches up with the purple jersey’s.

Not sure your point, but Oxford, Mississippi is at essentially the same latitude at Clemson, SC. Not sure it's going got be any cooler in Clemson that week.

If we wear all-whites at their white-out we will likely win. If not, there is still a chance.

fair enough. I admit when I am wrong. and I am wrong a lot.. LOL. So Clemson and Ole Miss are near the same temp. My mistake.

That said, we do perform better (I recall some very old post) vs FBS if given at least late September or October as negates a little of the depth differential. I am sure we have won some in the very first game also- we have some great victories over NC State, UNC (28-3 !!!!!!!!!!!!) and G Tech and USC.

Anyway, it's just tough vs an SEC - and an unusually strong SEC - top 10!... this ain't the Gamecocks - with such Depth of talent and size. to play them in 90 degree weather and probably 100 degrees on the field is tough. And can lead to injuries - most injuries occur when fatigued as you don't pivot correctly. I know Jackal maintains - and it's probably true - we don't get hurt more vs FBS.. probably right. Just saying I hope we don't have fatigue set in and guys pulling hamstrings etc.

Learn, cash a check, and use what we learned to win the next games. OL blocking etc vs some nasty DL and DE etc. It will all look easy after this one

GF hope your theory about better success againt FBS teams later in the year is correct because next year we play Clempson the last game of the year.

Game notes for Ole Miss: https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/side ... _Notes.pdf

For the first time that I can recall, it does not include a depth chart.
I spoke with Hunter about the season, and this came up. It turns out Ole Miss is not posting a depth chart until Saturday. SO, why should Furman??????

It looks like the roster has some updates on weights.
Our size kinda sneaks up on you.

Offense:
Our skill positions are a blend of some damn good sizes with athletic ability: speed guys like Hinton, Hester, and Hall - I just noticed they all have last names with an H. Then you have some impressive sizes J Harris, E Harris, Holbrook, Hamilton: 6-2 — 6-4.
Center: Luna 6-3 290, Lamb 6-2 285, Westerman 6-2 272, Salano 6-2 285.
OT: Hundley 6-3 287, Brasher 6-4 288, Balliew 6-5 288, Akinsola 6-5 285, Gregorek 6-4 275 ( the youngsters are gonna be some big fellas for the next several years. I guess AKinsola or Gregorek could earn a slot in the top four.
OG: Petit 6-3 285, Lamb 6-2 285, Wilson 6-4 288, Elliott 6-4 295, O'Dell 6-7 302, Garner 6-5 292, Gagnon 6-3 266. The core four Petit, Lamb, WIlson, O'Dell.

Back to the defense.:
Defensive End J Jackson 6-0 272, Stoneking 6-3 260, Dobbins 6-3 243, Rush 6-0 233.
Bandit (with Maier out): Clark 6-3 253, Chiedo 6-2 239, Schuck 6-3 233, Short 6-3 228.
DBs and Safeties are a bit longer than in past years: 5-11 — 6-2.
ILB, there is lots to like here: DiMaggio 6-3 234, Achina 6-1 212, Herbert 6-2 224, and Earl 6-2 228 are the top four. Plane, McLaughlin, and Barrett are backups.

Looking over the DT and NG position. I'm excited to see what havoc a more athletic D-line can cause.
DT is layered with what I think will be an uptick in speed and deceptive strength: Harrison 6-1 274, Bussey 6-3 286, Kauserud 6-4 285, Baldwin 6-1 272.
NG, we have a good one in X 6-3 297. I think we will see all three of these guys in the Furman rotation: Dudek 6-3 277, Hernández 6-4 307, and Knauber 6-1 290.

Should we expect some updates on Saturday?
I would expect in some way — maybe on the coordinator interviews, as well as we typically go over the starting line up.
