I hope I am wrong but I think CSU will be tougher than most think. They won 5 of their last 6 games and have everyone back plus 9 transfers.
I'd be more worried if they were playing Kumquat State week 1, but they have a home game against the Citadel. So, they aren't going to be able to coast that week and look towards Furman.

For the record, I am constitutionally incapable of being honest in football prognostication. My belief system is too hard-wired. But I can prediculate. 11-0 IF we can support the team with the proper mojos at the correct times.

A season of 8 to 9 victories seems about a good range to prediculate, what with the variability of the mojo and all. Every year we get whooped by a team simply because they're better (unfair as that is), and every year we lose a game we should have won.

I think the very downside worst we can do is 0-12, having that twelfth loss in the first play-off game. (Yes, we COULD make the play-offs with no W's if there were over 70 disqualifications within the FCS.)

The very upside is 15-0 (or 16-0... I don't know how the playoffs will work) PLUS winning the Quidditch Cup and a free sub sandwich from WPLS.

I'll go with 9-3. Unfortunately we are getting Ole Miss with one of their best teams in recent history. I can see a loss with either W&M or CSU and we always seem to have that one game where it looks like we are just going through the motions. Just like Wofford last year. FUATT!!!

I don't think we're losing to W&M.

I think folks underestimate how much better the SoCon is than the CAA.

I hope you are right about the W&M game. They have a veteran group with a 4 year starter at QB and we have virtually a new team with little to no QB game experience.

Again, our team isn't "new." They may not have the level of in-game reps you find ideal, but a number of the projected starters have been at Furman 3-5 years. We may still have one of the oldest lineups in the league.

Trust the coaches to have them ready.

Being optimistic 6-7.
Our team doesn’t need “locker room material” from other teams coaches or players. They can use your negative posts. Maybe that is what you are trying to accomplish?

As I pan out a bit, a few thoughts.

If this team wins 8 or 9 regular seasons games or makes the playoffs, I think the future is glaringly bright.

Furman is replacing 41 seniors from a season ago. This year, there are only 14 seniors/grad students on the team. A few of the grad students (like Joshua Burrell) will have additional eligibility.

So, even if we view this season as a "reloading" season (not rebuilding), there is likely real staying power for the program in the national conversation. Furman is having to turn over most of its two deep off a very good 2023 team. However, next season, we should have to replace on a small handful of key contributors.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
