At this point I’m confident in predicting we will wind up with between 5 and 11 wins.
I would agree :D :) :D

Mercer might not be undefeated when we play them.
Expecting an OT loss to ‘Bama?

I'm thinking this could be a Trap Game for the Bears.

The schedule is complete as several SoCon teams have announced their schedules but FU has not. Look for FU to announce after the first of the year.

CD, thanks. ETSU probably improves throughout the year as they learn new coach’s system. Only logical. Not that a good Furman team shouldn’t beat them hopefully but the teams that catch ETSU in September will have an easier time … Yes, many of Gardner Webb players came over but even then maybe 10 play? So 25 other guys who play a good bit will be learning this year.

I suspect ETSU will be much better in November than September.

Several SoCon schools have announced their schedules. UTC and WC are the latest. UTC starts with 2 FBS games and has a home game with Portland State. Would be nice if FU could get a home game with someone outside the SE. Seems to be no iterest in that however. WC has 2 CAA teams and closes with SC.
UTC at FU 10/12
WC at FU 11/9
Maybe FU will announce soon or we may already know the complete schedule before they announce. We already know 8 of the 12 games.

Should start out the season ranked top 5 or at least top 10 because of this year. The beatdown at Ole Miss will have little effect on the rankings, then a couple of winnable games, an iffy game at W&M so should start the conference season ranked.
Ole Miss sucks. Furman by 35.

We will close the regular season at Mercer.
If this is right this stinks. New system. New coaches. They will improve A LOT ( more improvement than an elder team like us ) from games in Sep to games in Nov.

I suspect Mercer and ETSU will improve the most from game 1 to game 11/12. The youngest teams with new systems usually do. That said, Furman SHOULD BE BETTER than Mercer regardless - but on the road in the game they have had the most time to do learning? Less than optimal is all I am saying. When I saw Cronic etc were leaving I thought “hope we get them in October”. Still, losing all coaches and Peevy and Harper and James? That’s a killer

If it makes you feel better, they play at VMI and at Alabama the two weeks prior to hosting Furman.

AND we’ll have the entire season to see what they’re up to.

Bootie, true. But I think the prime time to play a team with new coach and new system is in September after game 1. Say game 3 or so. You know their system. At least 80%. They are not going to change from a WingT to an air raid from week 1 to 3. But they still are learning and will have several hiccups. Wrong routes etc. Missed blocks. All teams do. But with a new system ? A LOT of errors can occur in September

And if our coaches are good - which I think they are - two game films is plenty to dissect a team. Shouldn’t take 11.

Not that we can alter when we play ETSU or Mercer. Just off season banter

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
