To date, IMO Wofford has better body of work. 3 losses to our 4. Same wins @ 7. And they completely dominated #7 FCS team (us). Can't recall if Chatt was ranked (don't think they were) when we beat them. Let's see what happens for Wofford against Citadel Saturday.
We beat SoCon mid and bottom tier. Couldn't beat the 2 teams challenging us @ the top of Conference.
The last sentence isn’t entirely accurate.
Chattanooga is “challenging us @ the top of Conference” just as much as the bellhops are; quite a bit more, IMO.
Chatt beat the bellhops & was a single dropped pass away from beating wiffy. Furman beat Chatt by 2+ scores on their own field. Assuming Chatt can beat VMI (which I think they will), if the loathsome bellhops, with their 1960 offense, can somehow beat the just-as-loathsome ratdogs, Chatt will be the SoCon Champ that Furman beat by 2+ scores on their own field and the SoCon Champ that should have beaten the ratpups on their own field.
So...the anklebiters may own the autobid, but they had 2 bad days (SCSt & Samford) & 1 lucky one (Chatt), FU had 2 days (woff & cit), and Chatt also only had 2 bad days (FU & JaxSt) and 1 unfortunate one (woff).
The bellhops, despite all their bluster and pretty good wins over GT & FU, have had a raft of “bad days” & to be honest, should have lost to Mercer & ETSU. They are nowhere near the top of the conference, IMO. I hope they beat the porchyappers, but Furman, Wofford, and Chattanooga are the cream of the SoCon in 2019. The other 6 are also-rans with a whits difference separating their ability (now that WCU has figured out how to compete a little), despite the easy-to-say ‘significant’ differences we want to ascribe to them based upon their conference records.
