F all these butterflies.

They’ve ruined college sports.

On a related note, JP Pegues played all of 4 minutes and was 0-2 from the field in Auburns loss to Duke last night. Hope he enjoys being a scout team player.

I’m always torn with a guy like Colton. I hope he does well, but I think it’s fair to be upset if you are a fan of Furman especially with an under recruited guy like him.

Furman was his only decent offer (of 2 I think). Furman saw something in him and gave him the opportunity (which he also earned) to shine when pretty much no one else did. That’s certainly frustrating from our perspective. As a fan, you might as well just assume no one is going to be back each year because there is nothing to hold any of these guys in one place for more than one year at a time.

Oh well, it’s just where things are right now.

I have no issue w grad transfers. They put in their 4 year or so and fulfilled their commitment.

No incentive to develop players anymore, you are doing it for someone else.

Doesn’t mention the mustache. FUBeAR, ever the optimist, is going to assume it’s staying…

Diversity of uniform selections is nice. Strong pics. There are better font choices for the header.
Word is the stache is sadly staying.

Assuming he does not return from the portal, FUBeAR will always remember young Mr. Hinton almost as fondly as he remembers all of his own Furman Teammates who quit after 2 years.

Those are, generally, positive memories and FUBeAR is at least cordial, often quite friendly with them when he sees them. FUBeAR certainly wishes them well in all of their endeavors.

BUT…those dudes aren’t the ride or die brothers that FUBeAR bled, sweated, laughed, won a lot, lost a little, and even cried (misted, actually) with for 4 or 5 years, or even 6 years (pre-Covid); the men who can have anything FUBeAR has and would give FUBeAR everything they have 40+ years later; the men who have been there for each other as we each grew up our families, attended each others’ weddings…and kids’ weddings, and graduations, and T-Ball games…and way too many funerals together.

All good. Life is about trade offs. Wouldn’t trade those brothers for anything or any other set of experiences.

Things are different now. Can’t mourn what these young men don’t know that they are losing or be mad at them for, seemingly, cavalierly giving it away. They don’t know what they don’t know. They can’t value something they don’t know that they are losing. They think they are gaining. Maybe they are right. Furman is not for everyone…which is a good thing, really.

Good luck & godspeed, Mr. Hinton. Thanks for the contributions the past 2 years. And, BIG thanks for letting the mustache make its own decision to stay. Looking for BIG things from it next season!

I like Hinton. I'd love to see him finish his career at Furman.

I suspect a school like Furman should be able to find a shifty slot receiver pretty easily. We've had a bunch over the years.

Already have Hester Jr. and have James coming in.

Not sure Hester has the shake like 1, but hear James does.

I think there is an outside shot 1 comes back if he does not get the right situation.

Our basketball situation gives me hope. Coming off a disappointing year and losing our best player to the portal caused a lot of folks to question the future of our program. Yet here we sit with a better team than we had last year and on the verge of what looks to be a great season due to good recruiting and some great portal pick-ups of our own.

In this age of the portal I have discovered that you can’t ever get too high or too low. A lot can change in a year. This thread is evidence that our coaches are hard at work addressing the needs. We are going to be fine.

All the data isn't in but in the case of Furman players it isn't the thing to do UNLESS it's all about the money rather than playing time. They should do something to stop some of this. NFL contracts aren't annual renewable, why should colleges be?

Grant Robinson in the portal. Another one that’s not too surprising based on how the year went.

Hate to lose both. We better buckle up then ("based on how the year went"). Furman is a special place. A place where the education has to be more valued than even the athletics. In this new era, those that value athletics more than the education will be portaling all the time on down years or lack of playing time. The coaches will have to recruit and retain players that will be the core guys that value the education even over the athletics and then take some swings in the portal where that might not be the situation. By the time we figure out how this works for/against Furman, the NCAA will change it.
