I would not expect Maier, Robinson or Hicks to be back. I think Hinton and Chappel could come back. Not sure on Balliew.

Since Balliew committed to UWG, that feels pretty definite. If Maier and Robinson aren't likely to come back, then I doubt anyone will be back. Hinton and Chappel seem like they have enough offers at this point to expect that they won't be coming back. Those that have come back in the past (Blackshear, Yates, and Clark) did not have many public offers. Of course none of us know for sure.

If no one comes back AND no one else goes in, Furman will have had less portal turnover than most. Again, a lot can happen in 12 days. We'll see where everything shakes out in the spring.

Just following up on this. I just noticed that Maier is not on the 2025 roster. Given Chappel and Hinton are on the roster and Ingram and Holmes are not, I'm guessing there is something else going on here (either he graduated and is off the roster like Hicks and Robinson, or he's off for some other reason like Holmes and Ingram). Either way, feels very likely he's not coming back. We'll see how the coaches address it going forward.

* Anderson, SC native
* Began at Mercer and played a good bit. May have even started a few games or more. FUBeAR remembers him being solid with plenty of upside.
* Transferred to South Carolina, as a PWO, FUBeAR understands.
* FUBeAR, fall of ‘23, asked a Gamecock Coach FUBeAR know about him … “great kid” was his response.

Just might want a Grad degree that FU offers.

Wofford got huge news today as Maximus Pulley and CJ Coombes are both coming back to Wofford after being in the portal. Wofford's defense should be solid again heading into next year.

Translation (maybe) … Neal Brown, WVU’s fired Coach recruited FCS level talent. New Coach (also old Coach, 2001-2007), Rich Rodriguez, is going to cut them all and bring in FBS quality Players. The current Players will end up at an FCS School … like Furman.

Furman is a relatively random placeholder in this context. Typically, SoCon schools are named in these kind of ‘disses’ because people know the names of SoCon FCS Schools because of the money games played against SEC schools.

I'm a little bit interested in the guys that either fall off or stay on the roster during this period.

It will be interesting for sure. I don't think anyone at Furman has publicly commented on it recently, and I'm not sure we know for sure about roster sizes yet. If Furman is still going to have to follow the 105 player roster limit despite not revenue sharing, then it will be interesting to see which walk ons stick around and which ones leave. I know Furman has at least 3 PWOs committed already (Morin, Roach, and Gaulding), and I think we've lost 4 or so to the portal. That's not a ratio that's going to get us down to 105 (if we have to be there). Of course, maybe they would make the "cuts" after spring practice if we have to trim the roster.

Somethings gonna have to be done about xfer portal. Even FBS playoff teams are losing players.

Theres only 3 things that need to be addressed

1. Timing of Portal entries (seems it should be after season ends)
2. Amt of NIL contracts. Some of them are crazy.
3. Lack of commitment or contracts. Even the pros have contracts.

Other thoughts?
