Be the man you gotta beat the man.
…and “the man’s” ridiculously difficult for visiting FCS Teams’ venues - be it noise or weather - or both…and you gotta beat “the man’s” home-cookin’ from the Officials that does such things as ignoring 9 obvious fouls on 2 returns TD’s in 1 game and 4 obvious fouls on a return for TD in a subsequent game.

Yep … gotta beat ALL of those. Seems fair.
Or, just beat Woofurd.

Doubtful the #2 was a-comin’ even if … 3, 4, or even 5 was more likely. Committee would have had all sorts of good words to justify their FU the SoCon decision.

#3 went thru Missoula, MT (anyway) in the semis’s
#4 went thru Brookings, SD in the semi’s
#5 went thru Brookings, SD in the semi’s and probably Pocatello, IDin the Quarters.

#1 or #2 Seed are the ONLY ways!

I really do try to understand, particularly if it's something that appears worth understanding.
What does "the #2 a'comin'" mean?
What does "even if … 3, 4, or even 5 was more likely" mean?
What does "3 went through, #4 went through, #4 went through" mean?
What is the reference to Pocatello, ID, about?
And if "#1 or #2 Seed are the ONLY ways!" means being one of those is the way to win the FCS playoffs, then why not just skip the playoffs and have the championship game? Or if "#1 or #2 Seed are the ONLY ways!" means something else, what does it mean?
I appreciate the typically good insights and information that FUBeAR shares, so I would like to benefit from those when possible.

Referencing the Seeding FU would have rec’d in the Playoffs last year if we had not lost to Wofford.

Any non-Dakota / non-Montana school must be seeded 1st or 2nd to avoid going into their silly weather and / or silly noise environments in the Playoffs. They hold, IFBO, an unfair advantage because of those environments, which translates to wins in those Playoff games, which cycles back through Seeding the following year…and the cycle repeats.

So…it’s not only about being the better Team. They have big paws on the scales that give a big assist in maintaining the status quo in FCS Football. They are good, but we saw what 4th place in the SoCon was able to do with #2 NDSU earlier this season in Johnson City. Now Mercer has to go play them inside the housing of a jet engine running at max power when the Bears are on Offense and inside a Library in a monastery when the bizuns have it.

ESPN did FCS no favors. They have Friday night and all day Saturday to play 4 games. What do they do? Schedule 2 of the games at the same time(3PM) opposite the Army/Navy game. Figures.

                          Not exactly...

                          Friday:
9 p.m. ET on ESPN: #8 Idaho at #1 Montana State

                          Saturday:
12 noon ET on ESPN: #6 UIW at #3 SDSU

12 noon ET on ABC: Jackson State vs. SC State

                          3 p.m. ET on ESPN+: #5 UC Davis at #4 USD

3:30 p.m. ET on ABC: #7 Mercer at #2 NDSU

4 FCS games on Primary National Broadcast Platforms - ESPN / ABC - none on ESPN2 or ESPNU

The UC Davis @ South Dakota game is the only one on streaming. It was originally scheduled for 4 PM ET, but since it's on ESPN+, think they were able to play it whenever USD chose, so they moved it to 3 PM.

Army Navy game does start at 3 PM on CBS.

All-in-all though - think this is the 1st time 3 quarterfinal games have been played on national over-the-air (more or less ... ESPN is cable, but...you know) broadcasts.

Only the Mercer @ NDSU game really overlaps the Army-Navy game in the non-streaming world. That's fine...who wants to watch a bunch of NIL-slathered FBS prima donnas when they could watch real intercollegiate student athletes ... oh wait. Well...anyway...it still doesn't suck. Could it be better...dunno...FUBeAR ain't no programming guru.

Unlike all other college athletes, those at service academies are classified as employees of their respective military branches, meaning they are subject to the federal law prohibiting military members from using public office for private gain (such as making money by marketing potato chips or a local pizza shop). The government pays tuition and additional expenses for all service academy students, athlete or otherwise. They also receive monthly stipends.

Regardless of network 2 FCS games were scheduled the same time as Army/Navy. So my statement is correct. SCS/JSU doesn’t count as it is not a playoff game of course. There were plenty of time slots with no games.
