The main difference in this game to me is LOS. As always. Watch those last drives of each team right before half. Despite some running success by us Mercer ran a beautiful METHODICAL drive with several great 5+ runs ending with a tight end TD. reminded me of old school Furman drives. Mercer can run more consistently…. That’s the ball game

Mercer is getting in our backfield too much

To our point of Mercer kickoffs. We did get one back to the 29 and one near the 40. Anyway some past the 25. That’s a concern for a playoff team. Because teams much more talented than us are coming for Mercer …
Statistically, things are pretty close.

The difference in the game right now is a blown coverage by a true freshman CB and the strip/pick six. Other than about those two plays, we've been fine.

Not much support from the Mercer faithful for a top ten playoff bound team with sole chamoipnship on the line. Their side is half empty.
I saw the home stands and they appeared half full. I guess I was wrong.

Mercer's stadium is a bit odd. It was increased in size early in the construction process.

The press box is behind the visitor sideline. The students, band, and visiting fans are on that side. The "home" side is much bigger, but doesn't have the press box.

I'm not sure how common it is, but it's odd to see the press box, band, students, etc. on the "visiting" sideline, but that's what they've got.

Looks like the refs just missed a fumble by Mercer.

Ouch. That interception at 8:10 left in the 3rd quarter was most unfortunate. I think we have to face the facts that our chances of winning the Southern Conference championship in 2024 are not good.

And now Mercer just got a TD. Oh man. Well, we can't expect to win them all.

Lots of work to do before next season. Other than Ian Williams playing well today there wasn’t much to be excited about. No running game really hurt us this year. Not exc
excelling at QB position. We can only get better!

“Regardless of what happens today, this season will mercifully end tonight.”

Amen. Let’s reset over the winter and spring.

Defense played well early, but like so many games, our offense just cannot stay on the field and cannot stop shooting itself squarely in the foot.

Our lack of a running game this season has just been a complete head scratcher.

Guys, the season is not over yet. We still have men in the field. 4-7 is not great, but it could be worse. We just need to figure a way to score 26 points in ten minutes and we push this thing into overtime.

I suppose it's positive that once the other team put in their freshmen and sophomores, we went straight down and scored.

Somewhat. But after points… next in stats importance is TURNOVERS. at half we lead turnovers 2 to 1. Yet trail by 18 ! Because Mercer is stronger up front

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
