Bet it will be Gardner Webb vs Furman, and Davidson vs Elon.

That would be my bet.
Mine too. GW will be tough they are 6-5 but 3 losses to FBS. Shoulda beat Coastal, lost by 2 and Liberty, loss by 1. Mercer did roll them albeit early.

They are a decent opponent. Honestly, there's no easy paths through the playoffs.

There are some potential easier paths. Playing a home game, for instance, and then maybe going to W&M, Samford, or Holy Cross would beat a flight out to Montana or Sacramento.

Davidson would be much easier than GW, so even though we deserve that most likely we will get shafted

Update we will play Gardner-Webb, take it to the bank, just a matter of here or there. Forgot Elon and GW have already played so they will not do a rematch.

We did play Elon twice in the same scenario in 2017 however

Davidson should be coming to Furman

Shame on the FCS if that's not the case

There is an interesting question of equity that I don't know if the the committee will consider.

Furman is 9-2. They are considered by many to be the first team outside the seeded 8 teams.

Does the committee "reward" that resume with a slightly easier first round game. Do they send the Pioneer League champ to Furman instead of sending the Paladins to play perhaps the CAA's best team - Elon.

My thoughts exactly. As you work down your top 24 after the seeds you should be placing the higher positioned teams in the easier bracket quadrants while still trying to honor the 400 mile desire.

Of course, at the same time, it is the post-season and there aren't going to be easy games. Go play whomever wherever.

I do hope this team get rewarded with a home game. This athletics administration seems a little more supportive of the overall football initiative than the last administration, so we'll see if they make good on that.

Does the committee “send” any team out for the first round games or it is based on the highest host bids?
