One hundred years ago this week, on 10/29/1921, Furman Football beat The Citadel 42-0, closing out an October in which Furman struggled to get to a 3-2-1 season-to-date record.
(The previous 3 weeks had seen a 7-27 loss at Georgia, a 0-69 loss at Georgia Tech, and a 0-0 tie in Greenville against a not-good Clemson team.)
(By the way ("by-the-way" ONLY because I started this post after looking back exactly 100 years, above, not 101 years):
101 years ago, the 1920 season, Furman's 9-1-0 record had included 7 shutouts including against Elon, Erskine, Wake Forest, Newberry, Wofford (69-0), Clemson (14-0), and Davidson. The one loss that Furman suffered in that 1920 season was 0-7 against Georgia. The other wins, in addition to the 7 shutouts, had been against The Citadel (21-6) and Oglethorpe (42-3). The 6, 7, and 3 points, respectively, scored by The Citadel, by Georgia, and by Oglethorpe made up the 16 total points that were scored against Furman in that entire 9-1-0 season versus the 286 total points scored by Furman in that 9-1-0 season.)

100 years ago this week, we played at home against South Carolina.
We beat South Carolina on November 12, 1921.
Furman 7 - South Carolina 0
It was South Carolina's ONLY loss that season. They ended up with a 5-1-2 record
Furman ended up with a 7-2-1 record that season.
This week, we play VMI on Saturday, November 13.
Hoping we can pull off a much-desired win.
On November 13 in Furman football history, we have had some fairly good results, going 11-3 overall, 5-0 at home, and 6-3 away.
11/13/1896 (125 years ago): W 10-0 against Charleston Y -away
11/13/1915: W 7-0 against Newberry.
11/13/1920: W 69-0 against Wofford - away
11/13/1926: W 10-7 against South Carolina - away
11/13/1937: W 12-0 against South Carolina - away
11/13/1954: L 14-33 against Florida State - away
11/13/1965: W 14-0 against Richmond
11/13/1971: L 33-35 against Citadel - away
11/13/1976: W 17-10 against East Carolina
11/13/1982: W 45-7 against Marshall - away
11/13/1993: W 17-3 against Marshall
11/13/1999: W 30-3 against Wofford
11/13/2004: W 31-24 against Wofford - away
11/13/2010: L 25-30 against Elon - away
Again, we are 5-0 in November 13 home games.
We have outscored our opponents by combined scores of 85-16 in those 5 previous November 13 games that were at home.
Hoping we will make it 6-0 in November 13 home games.

11/13/93 was awesome. It was a homecoming and the turds were ranked in the top 5 if I recall correctly. We were a 3-8 team that year. This was before Timmons was built so that was parking. It was a Grantland Rice day and in the late afternoon gloaming I don’t think I have had more fun harassing opposing fans on the way back to their cars than I did that day. F*** those green clad pieces of shit. Many of them told me I was #1. Probably one of the most satisfying wins.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
