A couple of you asked for more which is enough for old Lenny and his sidekick Percy Peabody. Here's week two:

Furman versus Elon

The purple knights will ride into Burlington, North Carolina Sat’dy ready to bounce back from last week’s visit to Dabeauxville. Waiting for them will be a bunch of former Christians planning to rise from the ashes after getting gored in Tampa. Curt Cignetti’s fire birds have plenty of weapons and are ready to get back on track, but Clay Hendrix’s crew from the Poinsett fire house will douse the flames quickly. Leonard’s Loser—Elon.

“Liked” it even before I read it & after.

Lost me a bit with the fire metaphor at the end though. If the bird already rose from the ashes, then wasn’t the fire already out when the bird arose? Maybe, I’m being too literal.

EDIT: Welp, I just read up on a Phoenix..and it is actually a bird MADE of fire. Didn’t know that. Your metaphor is perfect and I now know I wasn’t being too literal. I was being too ignorant. Not an unfamiliar condition for FUBeAR.

But, anyway, please keep doing these every week. They are GREAT!! Fun and nostalgic for me and, I would imagine, some of the other ancients here.

What got me hooked here in the 1st place was crying the tears of laughter that GSU88’s pregame prediculations used to bring to my eyes weekly. Sure do miss reading that savant’s way-way-way-off-beat prose. BTW, does anyone know the height of the tallest building on E*Loan’s campus?

I believe GSU88 was fond of saying something like, "The Furman's have sticks and they hit people with them." Ah, the good old days.

I resemble that remark.
