Ratdogs got embarrassed at Clempson today. 17-4. 😳
You should say: "Just think - it could have been Furman instead of Wofford. Thanks a lot 'ED'."

Yes would love to be in Woffy’s shoes. Battling for first place, already 30 wins on the season. WC has hope and a future. Yes it could have been us, thanks ED.

Tonight Upstate best SC and Charleston beat Clempson. Again ED took away the best sport where we could compete with the big boys. Thanks ED.

Upstate has 6,000 students. Cost of attendance at Upstate is about $26,000.
Charleston has 12,000 students. Cost of attendance at Charleston is about $31,000.
Furman has 2,700 students. Cost of attendance is about $68,000 (2021-2022).
Neither of those schools supports Division I Football (nor any other level of Football).
Considering cost of attendance, number of students, number of teams supported, number of male students sports opportunities compared to number of female students sports opportunities, percentage of male students enrolled compared to percentage of female students enrolled, Title IX requirements, and probably other factors that have to be considered (for example Furman's desire and commitment to excellence in all of the sports that it sponsors and in all other areas of endeavor), it is not that surprising that Upstate and Charleston have better ability to have baseball at present than Furman does. Maybe one day, as those tremendous donations to athletics keep coming in so that we can afford baseball and afford several additional women's sports in order to meet Title IX requirements, Furman will perhaps be able to have baseball again. Additionally, it is not President Davis's fault. It is no one's fault, but it was a decision of the Furman University Board of Trustees. [ ... Even if and when that happens (i.e., having baseball again), I don't see the big deal about schools playing baseball after graduation. Most of the students, other than the few student-athletes (if any) whose seasons are not over are gone from campus.]
ADDENDUM 5-13-22: That was the first time in 14 tries (in all history) that USC Upstate has beaten UofSC Columbia. Previously 0-13. Maybe the beginning of a trend.

Defending champions have lost about as many games this season as they’ve won.

Presbyterian and UNC Greensboro and Citadel are other schools, besides USC Upstate, that already beat UofSC Columbia.
Northeastern and Georgia State are other schools, besides College of Charleston, that already beat Clemson.
Not as big of a deal as some like to make it seem to be.
Likewise with Samford beating Mississippi State.

it is not a big deal at all in college baseball. If you look at the RPI after the midweek games, the bigger teams hardly ever get penalized for losing. It’s as if the midweek games are discounted.

Enough with your ED problem. Take it up with the Furman Board of Trustees. Otherwise, go to Spartanburg to watch your Terriers play.

These folks advertise on WCCP. Evidently, many Clemson Tigers fans have a problem with ED too. https://greenvillemensclinic.com/

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
