Down 24-0 at half to Georgia, the stadium emptied at halftime. Can’t blame them.

I almost feel sorry for Gamecocks fans. They deserve better.

SC is a program that has enormous resources: money; conference; national and statewide and local publicity, support (alumni base, fan base, political base, general community base); facilities; student body sports interest and size; etc.
It is not hard to not feel sorry for them.
They probably get big wins the next 2 games: home against Charlotte 49ers September 24 and home against SC State Bulldogs October 1.
They probably beat Vanderbilt and Missouri.
It should not be surprising for them to be able to get 2 to 3 upsets against Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, and Kentucky.
It should not be a surprise for them to get into a bowl game (woo-hoo!) again this year and pull out a win.
Or ... there's always next year.

According to my USC graduate brother Gamecock fans aren't especially unhappy. Their second year coach Beamer had a winning first season that included a Bowl game victory over North Carolina and had a well regarded first recruiting class and the homeymoon period is still in effect. They didn't enjoy getting pounded by Georgia but they didn't go into the game with much expectation of winning so the fans aren't really upset that much.

Moved their game to Thursday night which will be an inconvenience to most fans. They will play in 20-30:mph winds with higher gusts Thursday. Weather now calls for 38% chance of showers, 5-10 mph winds for Saturday. SC just can’t win for losing. 😂😂

One of the reasons why the game was moved was this game was a big deal for SC State. The Marching 101 looks forward to performing in big stadiums. It was the right move to make but I am sure Old Mr. Positive (you know the guy we laugh about in private messages) will come up with something else.

Did they re-re-schedule back to Saturday yet? Current forecast is for tropical storm conditions and heavy rain today but dry tomorrow.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
