Wish he would have stayed. But my guy gave Furman fans our best basketball moment in my lifetime (2013 grad, lifelong Paladin, parents were ‘85/‘86).

CBR will rebuild.

Good luck to JP. Thanks for March 2023 over UVA!

Now go get that bag my guy.

Depressing losing players you recruit and develop, especially when they’re primed for a monster season next year. So JP especially I legit don’t see a benefit for his basketball future by transferring so that one has to be NIL. As far as the NIL, it’s clearly the Wild West but it beats the ncaa and the universities exploiting the players…they deserve to be paid.

Still hopeful for next season and the future of FU Hoops. Clearly CBR is going to have to utilize the portal more than he’d like.

I also wonder if some players could be viewing the arena renovation as an annoying inconvenience for next season as far as practices as well as games.
The pay is a scholarship to one of the best universities in the country. Beats the hell out of my time at FU where I had to work 45 hours a week to pay my tuition.

So, Furman University has been “exploiting” JP Pegues by providing him with a ~$300k education, plus whatever additional benefits he was receiving, as part of Furman’s nefarious scheme to lose money by sponsoring an NCAA D1 Athletics Program?
My thoughts exactly FUBeAR, and no players do not need to be paid more than what they already are being paid. Most people don’t realize atheltes are already being paid thru pell grants etc $1,000-$2000 plus a month plus other sources.
Not to mention Pegues was being paid much more than this too

I had an interesting debate with a colleague of mine. Do you pay the players or pay the coach? Advantages to both for sure.

Pell Grants are a needs-based federal program that has nothing to do with athletics. I have no idea what the Pegues’ family income is but entirely possible a non- factor for JP or many other team members.

True but available to all undergraduate students, the amount is based on financial situation. No one said it was for athletes only.

What interest has Foster had...kow about Witt?
Supposedly Foster has heard from several, I have not seen anything on Whitt. Foster will land somewhere, Whitt maybe, maybe not.

Foster has high major interest, Whitt has mid major only, including SoCon teams

there's good news to be spun with everything.

For the Dins recruitment, development is a great advantage

Pegues was recruited as a 3 star (247 sports). Number 63 ranked PG and #10 in Tenn

Now he is ranked a 4 star. Overall #14 prospect and #3 PG

Foster had no ranking at all.

Now he is a 3 star and #70 overall and#20 SG

Thats development!

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
