SD thinks the poster is trolling. And by the looks of the repsonses did a pretty good job

If players look at this logically, there's only a few reasons why a player would transfer:

1. coaching change (like Mercer)
2. on a sinking ship (like VMI)
3. Not getting PT (like Anderson)
4.completely not in sync with coach
5, better offer from another school or to get a better post grad op (like mackey at USC)

The fact is, if Dins can stay together, Dins will be odds on favorites next year. Next year home games at the Well which should be exciting. Then for underclass, opening new tims will be just as exciting

NCAA appearance is a big deal. Look what it did to Slaw

Of those reasons above, SD can see one player in #3 and perhaps one in #4. Although the #4 one is boderline

If players get offers in case #5, cant blame em. Its the new world in sports
I could definitely see one for #5. Getting more money! Probably multiple offers.

Relax, affirm.

CBR will stay at Furman - for now. Don't know of many bigger schools willing to pursue a HC whose team was expected to win the SoCon and ended up 5th, one game removed from a Losing Season. The ADs know CBR is a very good coach, but they would not be able to sell him to their support base at present.
Key phrase in your post is “at present”. I realize he’s “less attractive” at present.
But I want us to be able to keep CBR for 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, 2031, etc., AND I want him to have multiple additional winning seasons and conference championships here as long as possible before he eventually does get lured away.

Was there ever an announced reason for Foster's inexplicable exit from the semi-final? It looks more like a benching than an injury.

If it is indeed a benching he has probably played his last game for us.

It really wouldn’t make sense for any player to transfer given the kind of season Furman could have next season…25-30 wins is a realistic possibility.

FU will never “announce” anything like that but to answer your question, it was not an injury it was a “coach’s decision.”

Had Furman won the tournament, Richey could have again been on the radar for some
Teams but he’s likely in Greenville for another year at least….If Furman is really good again next year, which I think they will be, he will be once again be on everyone’s short list.

As for Clemson, they will likely look at App State’s Dustin Kerns (Clemson grad) after the season they had!

I hope you are correct SJ but what do you base this on? I could see a better season for sure but 25-30 wins not so sure. Would take major improvement from just about everyone.

No Clempson will likely keep Brownell. They are apparently happy to be mediocre. They just gave him a contract extension in September of 2022, good thru 2026.

If you look back on the season, there were high expectations for this team and a very tough schedule. 2 or 3 losses that should have been wins and confidence waned. I hope we lighten the load this fall on our guys and have a reasonable schedule where we can build a cohesive group. Nobody could have predicted Vanderwal's appendicitis, Fosters Knee or Pegues ankle.
Hope Alex and Foster come back as nobody likes to lose..we have a scholarship and there are lots of very good players out there.
We could probably get one of the very best players out there with our great program.
What an opportunity for a good player to enjoy his college carreer at Furman!!!!

My money says CBR isn't going anywhere for at least 2-3 years.

I think that Bob will stick around to enjoy the new Timmons for a while. He has worked hard to get to this point.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
