Well, up next is #100. So we either made the top 100 or didn’t make the top 144. I think we show up between 90-100.

Sagarin rated Furman #87 last season. UNCG was #92, Wofford #130, ETSU #131, Mercer #136, Chattanooga #165.
Pomeroy had it Furman #96, UNCG #108, Wofford #127, ETSU #128, Mercer #131, VMI #153, Chattanooga #156.

The Top 144 ratings are tracking similarly to last season's final Sagarin and Pomeroy rankings except that the three SoCon teams picked so far were all rated higher than they finished last year. Of course, at least one team won't continue that patttern.

While researching for this post I noticed that UNCG has possibly lost a 6th transfer - 6'8" 220 lb. freshman Dericko Williams has entered the transfer portal. He averaged less than 2 pts. and 2 rebs. last year and didn't play in either game against the Paladins.

Interesting UTC's at the bottom of that list. Of course it's looking backwards, nevertheless I note that SoCon John sees them as the team to beat. Apparently they've come a long way in a year: https://www.midmajormadness.com/2021/8/ ... n-baptiste

Doesn’t really matter but beginning to think FU won’t make this list. They are doing a similar list for FCS football but for the top 44. FU is not on the list but several non-scholarship are. Furman must have really fallen off the FCS radar with the spring debacle.

Not that it matters, but we will make the list, probably between 85-90.

#1 in the SoCon and #79 in the country - the Furman Paladins.
LINK

The preview cites the consistency under Richey and the three returning starters, especially the guards, and predicts the returning big men and the incoming freshmen should fill in a lot of minutes up front.

Some of the preceding teams in the rankings - #80 Boise State, #81 Missouri, #83 Georgetown, #84 Rutgers.

Glad to see we came in at #79. Still thnk that is too high with the loss of Mouce and Gurley but I have confidence in CBR in that he will get the best out of every player on the team.

Yes I do too. We got used to hearing from CBR every 3-4 weeks and now its been 4 months since we heard from him. Long overdue,

Has our schedule been announced? Various D-1 schools’ schedules have been announced. Are we just waiting to find out what “most-desirable” non-D-1’s we’re going to add in order to complete our schedule, or is there still a hope for additional D-1’s? Season starts in 77 days.
