Hmmm. Lateral move or a step up the ladder?
He'll be playing for former Akron SVSM player and coach Dru Joyce III. He grew up playing with LeBron in Akron and was a protege of sorts of former SVSM, Akron U. and Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot. Keith retired after this season to care for his wife who is fighting breast cancer...he's good people. Duquesne was an 11 seed in '24 and beat BYU in the first round. While the A-10 isn't a Power 6 conference, I'd still place it above the SoCon.
Wish Alex the best of luck. He'll be closer to family in Pittsburgh.

Technically we only have guards and forwards, no centers. Best to break it down as 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s. Good luck with that.

According to the Verbal Commits website there are 2023 D1 transfers. 741 have announced decisions. That included a few dozen who are staying put. It also includes an unknown number of walk-ons who want to transfer. Anyone on a D1 roster can announce a transfer. Not just scholarship players. Those numbers are just for D1 players. No D2 or D3 players listed.

Another website I saw lists the 32 D1 conferences by transfer impact. The American Athletic Conference has had about 50% of their players enter the portal. About the same percent of their minutes played . The SoCon was 10th on the list. About 36% of players in the portal. The Ivy League and Patriot League are #31 and #32. the Patriot League total may be skewed by Army and Navy, which I assume have fewer players leaving for more playing time elsewhere, especially juniors and seniors. The Pac 12 was #6, ACC was #9, the Big East was #14 and the SEC was #15. The Big 12 and Big 10 had the fewest transfers of the P5 schools at #22 and #23. The MVC was #3, the MAC #5, the CAA and A10 were #16 and #17.

Chattanooga just landed Frank Champion from the portal. He's got one year of eligibility left, but averaged 17.6 points and 8.4 rebounds for his career at North Georgia.

Samford's Achor Achor is headed to Kansas State. The Citadel's leading scorer A. J. Smith is moving across town to Col. of Charleston. Jaxon Prunty, a 6'6" wing from Columbia, SC (HS senior) that we had some interest in also signed with Charleston. Don't know that we ever offered.
