I looked at the schedule of all teams in the Southern Conference and the following is my best guess at the full 2024 schedule for Furman Football.

August 31st - at Ole Miss - Definite
September 7th - Home verses Charleston Southern - Definite
September 14th - Home verses Stetson - Definite
September 21st - at William and Mary - Definite

September 28th - Home verses Samford
October 5th - at The Citadel
October 12th - Home verses Chattanooga - Definite
October 19th - Home verses Western Carolina
October 26th - Bye
November 2nd - At VMI
November 9th - Home Verses Wofford - Definite
November 16th - at ETSU - Definite
November 23rd - at Mercer - Definite

The games in bold are already official.
I think that Samford is trying to firm up a 4th out of conference opponent that has not been finalized yet.

FUBeAR was recently advised that, for some odd reason, CIT's 2024 SoCon Football schedule is posted on the SoCon website's Football Calendar. It's the only school with their full schedule posted. The other 8 SoCon teams 'show up' on the calendar when they play CIT only.

So....assuming this is an accurate schedule for CIT and looking at all other announced schedules/games for SoCon Teams and/or their opponents, FUBeAR has applied all of the deductive reasoning he learned as closing time was approaching at The Electric Warehouse, and deduced that THIS is FURMAN's complete 2024 Football Schedule...

WK# DATE OPPONENT
1 31-Aug @ Ole Miss
2 7-Sep Charleston Southern
3 14-Sep Stetson
4 21-Sep @ William & Mary
5 28-Sep Samford
6 5-Oct @ CIT
7 12-Oct Chattanooga
8 19-Oct WCU
9 26-Oct BYE
10 2-Nov @VMI
11 9-Nov Wofford
12 16-Nov @ ETSU
13 23-Nov @ Mercer

Anyone disagree?

I never had any form of reasoning at closing time.
Unless one is/was a proponent of the GUE methodology, a lack of critical thinking, risk/reward assessments, and deductive reasoning as the clock is/was ticking down could/could have lead/led to self-amputation of a limb via mastication the following day.

You were flirtin’ with disaster, gman!

First NINE weeks of the season: only 3 away games.
Last 4 weeks: only ONE home game.
We need to win enough regular season games that we can have at least our first 1 or first 2 or first 3 or more playoff games at home. (We need to take care of business every single game of the season, including being very smart with the Ole Miss game. Obviously.)

This is a good schedule. Checks most, if not all, the boxes.

- 12 games. 6 at home.
- There is a "money game" against a highly ranked foe early in the season. Get in, test ourselves, get out.
- Two winnable home games against FCS out of conference opponents. Both "count" for playoff purposes.
- A road game against an old foe from another "big" FCS conference - will be a great opportunity to advance the national profile of the SoCon and Furman beating one of the CAA's big names.
- Arguably our three toughest opponents (Samford, UTC, WCU) are all at home.
- Bye week is somewhere around the 3/4 mark of the season. Right where you need that break.

The only thing I don't love is ending with back to back road games. Other than that, a really solid slate.

Maybe I'm too anxious, but I also think that every time we play Western Carolina for homecoming it ends up being a white-knuckled affair for the home side.

I know we have to build the mojos one apocalypse at a time, but looking forward I can see some mojos are going to prove more difficult than others. For example, I trust we can build an A-plus quality mojo against Stetson, but Bill and The B is going to prove hazardous. There's so many unknowns.

The way I've seen the rankings move (or rather not move) in the past is we can lose games, but we can't lose against the three early non-conference FCS opponents. I'm overstating the case to make the point. Like, if we start conference play 2-2 the rankings are so static we would have to win 7 of the next 8 or be the SOCON champions to advance. Am I thinking correctly?

You think. Or thoughts occur. Your Brilliance is understated. Your logic misunderstood. Bill and the beatch will fetch our water.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
