Mr. and Mrs. Garvin will leave the Grove immediately after the game. We have plans to stay in our car at the Flying J Truck Stop just outside of Birmingham. Great showers at a great price. I don't trust this Joey Freshwater character.

I love the Flying J Truck Stop outside of Birmingham. It reminds me of my grandmother's house, where the gentle night rain on her tin roof always brought to mind urine splashing in a filthy Alabama latrine.

To date no other message board has opted to show any interest in me whatsoever. My name is still in the portal. We'll see what happens.

Check it out. Ol' Miss has done got little people in it. Dig, if you will, this:

http://snowwowl.com/legends/choctaw/choctaw7.html

They are called the Kowi Anukasha and they are extraordinarily well documented by the Choctaw. These "little people" will chuck rocks at you from the woods.

Great information Tex. I think I may have met one of those medicine men back in college, offering the medicinal herb.

What’s the latest on your time in the portal?

Thank you Bootie.

So far a growing list of college football message boards have contacted me. This includes UL-Monroe. The ULM Warhawks posted a somewhat disappointing 2-10 record in 2023, thus missing bowl eligibility by just four games. This was only caused by them losing so many games, which included their last ten games in a row. The Warhawk message board guys think they can really turn this around next year with my help. But they have not mentioned any of that sweet sweet NIL money.

So to date the growing list is:
-UL-Monroe
-Travelers Rest Quaker Home School Association
-an email from a guy in India saying he has a video of me watching naughty movies

And that rounds out the list.

Every now and then I think about how annoyed ULM has to be that ULL rebranded their sports teams as "Louisiana."

It seems like the University of Louisiana was just there for the taking, and the Ragin Cajuns just went for it.

Compared to Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Lafayette is is considerably older and considerably larger.
Yes, it was a smart move for ULL to change their name to UL, whenever that happened. However, I doubt it ever being "just there for the taking" for ULM.

Actually I vastly prefer ULL to Louisiana…. It was often pronounced as “ooh la la” with a sultry tone being Louisiana Lafayette

University of Louisiana - Lafayette is twice as large and forty years older than ULM. And, there is a distinctiveness, some may argue prestige, in ULL that ULM cannot approach. When UL-Lafayette proposed the name change to simply University of Louisiana the objection wasn't from ULM because ULM was called Northeast Louisiana University back then. No, the objection came from LSU, because they style themselves as THE flagship school in Louisiana and did not want another to make a verbal claim to its perch. It was 1999 when ULL became simply UL and Northeast Louisiana became ULM. One more thing: I've been drunk many times in Lafayette because I used to teach there. There's a certain joie de vie in Lafayette, a certain je ne sais quoi, a certain I can't tie my shoes anymore.

Portal update: I just found out Bennington College has exactly zero sports teams. Apparently I have been the victim of a very cruel joke.

Evergreen State University, the Geoducks, have expressed interest. My extensive research indicates this is the most woke campus in the US, so I am cramming on how to hate anyone who dares disagrees with me on anything. In addition, while I don't think I can ever learn to think of someone's color, ethnicity, or sexuality as a primary indicator of their personhood, I think I can fake that in order to appear progressive and properly socialist. Wish me luck.

Before you mislead people into thinking that Bennington College has hoodwinked you, everyone should know that the blame for Bennington’s lack of intercollegiate Student Athletes, who could be criticized on a message board, lies squarely at the clay feet of the fiscal managers of Southern Vermont College. They are the real villains in this sad and tawdry tale.

Everyone should also know, in Louisiana, it’s pronunciatated LAUGH-ee-yet. Prolly for good reason.

Thank you FUBear for your research and insightful exposure of SVC, and of course the Book of Daniel reference. Well done, Sir, well done indeed.

Portal Updates:

- Bennington College is out.
- ULM was back in for an hour, then they called me a whiney little bee-atch and severed all communication. (For the record, I wasn't being a whiney little bee-atch; I was being a condescending know-it-all.)
- Cumberland University may be showing some interest. Its hard to tell.

Book of Daniel?

FUBeAR was going for a seasonal ABBA reference (1:38)

Everything FUBeAR knows about the Book of Daniel, he learned from this Hollywood recreation of Chapter 3…

Also … be careful with Cumberland…you could end up a Kiwi…or worse…pulling for the Hatch Attack.

Cumberland may refer to:

Cumberland College of Health Sciences, Sydney, now University of Sydney School of Health Sciences

Cumberland College, Otago, a residential college for the University of Otago, in Dunedin, New Zealand

Cumberland College (Princeton, Kentucky), a defunct institution

Cumberland College (Saskatchewan)

Cumberland County College in Vineland, New Jersey

Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama; formerly in Tennessee (this is Samford in disguise)

Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee; formerly named Cumberland College

University of Nashville, formerly named Cumberland College

University of the Ozarks, formerly named Arkansas Cumberland College

University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky; formerly named Cumberland College

Cumberland University is a private university in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Just wondering if you have considered making a move within the SoCon Message Boards? I realize there is the rule that you would have to sit out a year, but you could weigh that against the revenge factor of doing so. That factor would allow you to rub it in the face of any Purples that have disrespected you in the past. Consider this post as another interest of your Portal announcement. Best of luck in your Portal quest.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
