It sure is good we're playing under the protective gaze of our beloved Paris Mountain. That Shenandoah Valley is haunted. Still, you gotta admit those Keydets will be hauling down to Greenville some strange and wicked mojo. What with all those stories of W&L girls and that damnable Battle of New Market, we better be prepared.

First, a Keydet is not a kangaroo. Yet they have a kangaroo as their mascot. A marsupial. BUT, North America's only marsupial is the opossum. The opossum, Virginius Didelphis, has the lowest brain to body mass of any mammal on the planet. And it is a vile critter.

You can whack a possum with a wiffle ball bat and it will just hiss at you. You should use a 2x4.

Many years ago we had a possum in our house. The rest of the family were trying to control it with garden tools but that wasn't really working so I put on some heavy leather gloves and a long sleeve shirt for protection and just grabbed it. i recommend the "don't be scared solution." It is a lot faster. Be smart about it but just take direct action.

I know every game is different both mentally and physically but just throwng out a few facts from VMI’s game with UTC last week and FU’s game this week vs. UTC. FU rushed for 68 yds on 31 carries or 2.3 ypc. VMI rushed for 210 yds on 39 carries or 5.4 ypc. They had one rb with 25 carries and 208 yds or 8 ypc. They also throw it well, had iver 200 yds against UTC and have several big receivers. This game will not be easy and if FU sleep walks like they did against Citadel and ETSU don’t be surprised if it goes in the L column. VMI is better than both of those.

and......

Mods need to delete such stupid threads

Would it be beneficial if we had a possum (or part of a possum) on hand for the game?? If a whole possum is required does it need to be alive? As the duly-elected mayor of Possum Kingdom, I can prolly make this happen.

I have heard a term lately that largely articulates our strategy. We need to Sous Vide them. When you cook something using the sous vide method, you seal it in a vacuum bag and suffocate it and then immerse it hot water until it's tender, and THEN and only THEN do you sear it over a hot flame and eat it. In football, this style is demonstrated by playing a suffocating, oxygen depriving defense, then boiling the opponents in a hot water bath, before turning up the heat in the second half and searing them with the big play.

Dear Mayor of Possum Kingdom (aka Bootie),

I hope this email finds you well.

If it meets within your policy, please prepare the possumry for the VMI game. While I have no advice or direction for the tailgate, I do not suggest that we bring possum parts within the stadium itself. Bringing possum bits into a game is like Socialism - It may sound great but it never works out ever, always ending in millions of lives lost or a slow painful reversion to a more behavioral oriented system. Therefore I suggest poking a dead possum with a stick, kinda messing with it for a spell while your friends watch and retch, then chasing your friends with the "possum stick" yelling that you're going to touch them with it. Then bring that possum stick to the game and shake it at those horrifying VMI boys. That'll be a solid base from which we can build the mojo.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need further guidance.

Best regards,
FUTex

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
