APaladin that beats a lot of other teams we play. They have had a NFL player drafted in the 2nd round. When was the last time a Furman player was drafted let alone in the second round……..

Some recent offers. Couple of observations...

Coach Tafon Mainsah has been VERY active, at least on twitter. A lot of the offers that have gone out since he was hired have come from him.

Seems like Furman has offered more players than normal, and they've offered some guys with an offer list we wouldn't even bother with in the past. Still unlikely we get those guys, but it's good to see Furman not being afraid to offer a guy just because some regional FBS teams have offered.

^^^ Wolfpacker brought up something I've been wondering about.

Furman appears to be more aggressive with offers this season-many of those offered as Wolfpacker mentioned have G5 and some P5 offers.

I wonder if Furman football has a little tailwind from the BB team's dance performance and the PR that came with it? Playing in two playoff games last season has to help too.

The Virginia game likely gave Furman a lot of instant name recognition.

I also think Furman can sell a lot of stability and team culture. In an area where so many college teams are filing rosters through the transfer portal, Furman is pretty committed to recruiting and developing high school talent. Could be that FBS kids are more available to us than in years past because so many other programs are focused on the spinning of the transfer portal.

I think we all thought Furman commit Jeremiah Gavin Hall would play RB/Slot for Furman and not QB.
This twitter post lists him as class of 24 running back, Hall is a shifty, slippery dude.

Looks like Hall is transferring from Hebron to Gainseville as a senior.

According to the article, he’ll move from QB to RB with GHS. So I guess that answers the question about what Furman’s plans are. If you can start at RB for a Georgia 6A powerhouse, you can probably play a bit.

Gainseville is one of Georgia’s better football programs, in my opinion. They put out a lot of D1 talent.

This info is not confirmed by a Tweet from Furman officially.
I use a Twitter tracker for work and I also have it stalking the web for Furman football mentions, etc

If you don't know who Fred Norman Jr is?
Norman was a starter at ETSU, he's listed as 6-6 - 6-7 / 330 - 350.
This is a big late transfer pickup.

Norman was a preseason All SoCon pick in 2022. I believe he started every game for the Bucs last year.

Looking at their roster, he picked up extra eligibility with the COVID season. He played last season as a redshirt sophomore, which was his fourth season in a college program. I'd guess he still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Furman was a little thin along the offensive line last season. The injury to Vollmer and some unexpected transfers thinned things out a bit. The group we had, though, played at a very high level all season.

At bottom, this is a really nice pickup for Furman and should help supplement some of the depth that transferred out before the start of last season. Norman played primarily OG at ETSU, but he is massive (6'6 350+) and in Furman's system should cross train at both OG and OT and looks like a guy that can do well in our run-heavy system.

He was also all region two years in basketball- so athletic as well. There is no grass growing under our coaches feet.

This is a huge get for us, in more than one way. ;) This doesn't happen without the grad program. CCH mentioned in a recent interview with Dan that there could be a couple more O-line transfers.

ETSU's OL also boasts back to back 1,000 yard rushers, so Norman has helped anchor some impressive rushing attacks.

Going into the offseason, it really seemed like Furman had three things on their shopping list to solidify things for 2023:

1. Add an interior defensive lineman (check)
2. Add TE depth (check)
3. Add OL depth (check)

According to Coach Tafon and Roper, Furman has landed a QB for the 24 class!

Edit: Could be something, could be nothing. Recent QB offer Terry “Trey” Hedden III liked both Roper’s and Mainsah’s tweet 🤷‍♂️. Hedden is from Tampa Catholic, same school as last year’s OL commit, Christopher Luna.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
